Tawnya J Bowman, age 44, and her son, Daniel M Bowman, age 3, of Hegins, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 as a result of a house fire at their residence.

Tawnya was born on Wednesday, December 8, 1976, in Pottsville, a daughter of Mark E Bowman and Ann L (Carl) Bowman of Hegins. Daniel was born on June 2, 2017 in Pottsville.

Tawnya was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School. Tawnya enjoyed music, the outdoors, and spending time with her children and family.

Daniel loved playing with trucks, enjoyed spending time with his Nana and Pap, and taking trips to the park with his sissy Tianna.

They are survived by parents and grandparents Mark and Ann Bowman of Hegins; by paternal grandmother and paternal great grandmother, Marie Bowman of Berrysburg; daughter and sister, Tianna S Merwine of Tremont; brother and uncle, Mark T Bowman of Hegins; sister and aunt, Bethanny S Shaffer and her husband Nolan of Palmyra, VA; and nephew and cousin, Brooks Shaffer of Palmyra, VA.

A memorial service for Tawnya and Daniel will be held at Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample, on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday at the church.

Frank E. Schneck
, 70, of Deturksville Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in the Hershey Medical Center.

Born on April 11, 1951 in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Ernest And Emily Hoy Schneck.

He was a 1970 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.

Frank was a truck driver for 47 years for The Haven Line Industries, Schuylkill Haven

He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, feeding the fish in his pond and his tractors.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Faye Reinhart Schneck; a daughter, Tammy Zimmerman; two grandchildren, Lindsey and husband Donald Legarht, and Logan Zimmerman, all of Pine Grove; two brothers, David and wife Emma Jane Schneck of Zionsville, Lynn and wife Linda Schneck of Pine Grove; three sisters, Dawn Koehler, Marion and husband Nick DeFlavio, Dana and husband Myrl Troutman, all of Pine Grove, nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services and interment will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, W. Wood St., Pine Grove with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating.

Joseph A. Kuperavage, Sr.
, age 82, of Port Carbon, PA passed away Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill, East in Pottsville.

Born in New Philadelphia, PA on August 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Adam and Esther (Penkauskas) Kuperavage.

Joseph was owner and operator of the Joe Kuperavage Coal Company in New Philadelphia. He regularly attended the Nativity B.V.M. Ukrainian Catholic Church in Middleport. Joe was the past promoter of the Big Diamond Raceway and the Anthracite Raceway. He was inducted into the Coal Region Racing Hall of Fame in April 2019. Joe was also past president of the Schoentown Fire Company and a member of the Veterans of Vietnam War Post 29 Joseph C. Cappella Memorial Home in Schoentown. Joe enjoyed hunting, attending political fundraisers, and polka dances.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn (Nocket) Kuperavage in 2005 and brothers: Bernard, Leonard, and Edward Kuperavage.

Joe is survived by daughters: Helen Schinkel and her husband Keith, Branch Twp., Elizabeth "Libby" Burns and her husband Bill, Schoentown, Diane Berzowski and her husband George, MarLin, and JoAnn Denchy, Pottsville; son Joseph A. Kuperavage Jr. and his companion Peggy Trupp, Schoentown; grandchildren: Justin Schinkel, Branch Twp. and Nicole Berzowski, MarLin; brothers: Ronald Kuperavage, Tuscarora, Albert Kuperavage, Ashland, and Robert Kuperavage, Port Carbon; sisters: Mildred Harris, Pottsville, Darlene Saunders, Schuylkill Haven, Eleanor Carr, Buck Run, and Geraldine Kuperavage, Port Carbon; sisters-in-law: Marie Kuperavage, Cumbola and Florence Kuperavage, Port Carbon; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held private.

Judith Ann Nelsen
, 58, Frackville, PA, passed away Sunday, May 23rd, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Judy was born in Mahanoy City, PA on August 5, 1962, a daughter of the late Johanna (Trusky) and Stanley Kegolis.

She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City, PA 17948.

She worked as a school secretary at Mahanoy Area School District for 18 years. Served on the PSERS Union for many years.

Judy belonged to the Lithuanian Woman’s Club Schuylkill County Chapter, Blood donor for the American Red Cross and donated her Corneas to the Gift of Life Program at Danville.

Judy is survived by a daughter, Marcella Nelsen, of Frackville; two sisters, Maggie Kegolis, of Frackville; JoAnn Filiziani, of Frackville; a brother, Thomas, of Ventura Calif. She is also survived by 1 Grandchild Jordan "Boo" Nelsen and Nieces and Nephews.

Judy is preceded in death by a sister Cathy Keretsky and also a nephew David Jones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Saturday, May 29th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.
