Barnesville Man is Facing Burglary and Drug Charges


A Barnesville man will face charges after an alleged burglary in Rush Township.

According to Rush Township Police, on Friday, June 4th, 2021, David Merenda Jr., age 37 of Barnesville was apprehended in the 100 block of Grier Avenue in the Barnesville section of Rush Township. 

Police said, just after 9:30am, Merenda was located inside an unoccupied residence that he had illegally gained entry. At the time of arrest, the defendant had items in his possession that were from the victim’s residence.

Merenda was charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance. 

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Rossi, and was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 straight bail. 

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for these charges on June 29th, 2021.
