On Monday, Marian Catholic High School announced their new Fillies Varsity Volleyball Head Coach, Maria Serina.

This position is a homecoming for Maria, as she played for the Fillies and was a captain in both her junior and senior seasons. As a high school player, Maria was selected for several awards. Maria was also recognized as the Times News Player of the Year in her final two seasons while she was selected as the Schuylkill League Most Outstanding Player in her senior year.

After high school, Maria played at Muhlenberg College in Allentown. At Muhlenberg, she was a team captain, and she helped Muhlenberg to achieve the Centennial Conference Co-Champions. Maria became a record holder at Muhlenberg in career digs, season digs, and match digs while also being selected to the All-Academic/Athletic Conference team in both her junior and senior seasons.

Maria obtained her BA in English and her Secondary Teaching Certificate from Muhlenberg College. Additionally, she obtained a Masters of Education and Principal’s Certificate from Wilkes University.
