Child Injured in Minersville Fire Passes Away

The victim of a house fire in Minersville last week has passed away.

Just after 4:00pm, Friday, emergency personnel were dispatched to 465 North Street, Minersville, for a working structure fire with entrapment.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire in the rear of the home with a 12 year old girl trapped on the second floor.

The child, identified as Nyah-Ann Barnwell,  was able to be rescued by firefighters and taken to EMS personnel.  The child was then transported to a waiting helicopter and flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest for her injuries.

According to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office, Barnwell passed away at the hospital on Sunday.

Barnwell's cause of death was due to complications of inhalation injuries from the fire and has been ruled accidental.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
