Thomas Nathan Kunkel, Jr.
, 53, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday, October 6th, at home.

Born in Pottsville on July 18, 1968, he was a son of Thomas N. Kunkel, Sr. & Gail Marie (Stump) Kunkel, of Orwigsburg.

Tom was a 1986 graduate of Blue Mountain High School. He earned an associates degree in marketing and management from McCann School of Business and Technology.

He served in the U.S. Air Force, as well as the PA Air National Guard. Tom was deployed during Operation Desert Storm.

He was currently employed as a territory manager for Praxair.

Tom was a Free & Accepted Mason with the Schuylkill Lodge #138; he belonged to the Rainbow Gun Club, and served on the West Brunswick Township Zoning Commission. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his wife, Ginger G. (Williamson) Kunkel, two sons: Jarrod Nathan Kunkel, husband of Alisha Shire, of Cressona; & Nicholas Shane Kunkel, fiance of Bradlee Mix, of Orwigsburg; and a daughter, Alexa Jade Kunkel, of Orwigsburg. He is also survived by a grandson, Icarus Nathan Kunkel, & cousin, Pam Kalyan, Friedensburg.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted Tuesday, October 12th at 11 a.m. at Ebling -Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut Street, Cressona. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be privately held at the convenience of the family.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Foundation.

Todd John "TJ" Patterson
, 61, of Herndon, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at home.

Born on May 5, 1960 in Manhattan, N.Y., he was a son of Ellen Meister Fagell of S.C. and the late Charles Patterson.

He was a graduate of Neshaminy High School.

Todd was a Train Mechanic.

Preceding him in death was a sister Wendy Alston.

Surviving are his life partner, Barbara Jane Wenrich of Herndon; a son Matthew Bramble of TN; step daughters, Megan Kramer of Warminster, Amber Wenrich of Pine Grove, and Faith Wenrich of Reading; grandchildren, Travis Bramble, Haden Glowania, Mazikeen Kramer, Riley Andre, Destiny Fernandez, and Sebastian Fernandez; a brother Scott Patterson.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Eva M. Mizzer, age 90, of Mahanoy City, passed away Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter. 

Born in Girardville, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Mary (Yashin) Petrousky. She was a graduate of Girardville High School Class of 1948. She was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City and was a life member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She worked for the former Ashland Hospital in the reveune office and later for the Mahanoy Area School District. She and her husband also owned and operated the former Towne Cleaners in Mahanoy City. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2007. 

Survivors include a son John and his wife Dione of Newark DE, a daughter Mary Anne Rajkowski and her husband PJ of Mahanoy City and granddaughters Marci and Maria Rajkowski.

Marvin A. Leiby
, longtime resident of New Ringgold, West Penn Twp., Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Seton Manor in Orwigsburg at 99 years of age.

Born Sunday, May 28, 1922 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania the son of the late Oscar, and Pearl (Hill) Leiby. Marvin was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Ruth Alice (Moyer) Leiby on January 3, 2011; half brothers, Cleo, and Paul Zimmerman.

Surviving are son, Lamar M. Leiby and his wife Doris of New Ringgold; daughter, Nancy DiBuo wife of Louis of New Ringgold; grandchildren, Shelly Heisler and her husband Todd, Lisa Eichert and her husband Charles, Amy Meixsell and her husband Larry, Amanda DiBuo; great grandchildren,Lindsay and her husband Zachary, Jordan and his wife Tally, Caden, Gavin, Elias, Nathan; great great grandchildren, Caleb, and Luke; companion, Mary Jane Moyer of New Ringgold.

Marvin owned and operated Leiby Trucking of West Penn which he founded in the mid 1940's and ran until being acquired by his son Lamar in the late 1980's. Marvin was an active member of the former West Penn Immanuel United Methodist Church of Andreas, and served on the cemetery committee for many years. An avid outdoorsman, Marvin hunted, fished, and enjoyed boating. Marvin, belonged to the Grundsow Lodge.

Debra L Artz, age 65, of Hegins, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the home of her son in Hegins..

She was born on Sunday, September 30, 1956, in Lykens, a daughter of the late Chester L Hubler, Sr. and the late Marian (Bonawitz) Hubler.

She was a 1974 graduate of Williams Valley High School.

Deb was a member of the Sacramento Fire Company.

She loved doing crafts, enjoyed NASCAR, making wreaths, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, Dakota E Artz; and a brother, Richard L Hubler.

She is survived by her husband Eugene E Artz, to whom she was married for 35 years.

She is also survived by three sons, Brandon D Ruch of Newtown, Travis A Ruch and his wife Jennifer of Dalmatia, and Phoenix G Artz and his wife Hannah of Hegins; five grandchildren; a brother, Chester L Hubler, Jr of Lykens; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.

Vera I Kimmel
, age 100, of Valley View, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on Friday, May 27, 1921, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Millard S Schwalm and the late Irene M (Bixler) Schwalm.

She was a 1939 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Vera was a seamstress in area garment factories prior to her retirement.

She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.

Vera loved gardening, sewing, quilting, making blankets and bags for those in need, and crocheting doilies, plus spending time with family, friends and those who cared for her.

Her husband Mark A Kimmel, passed away in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by an infant daughter Doris Kimmel; daughter Peggy J. Miller; and by a brother, Clair Schwalm.

She is survived by a son, Glenn M Kimmel and his wife Linda of Carlisle; a daughter, Carol A Shuey and her husband Leroy of Hegins; a son in law, Larry R Miller and his wife Patricia of Valley View; a sister, Dora Mae Wagner of Hegins; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Suzanne Elliott, Rev. Duane Bardo, and Rev. David Wagner officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.

Robert Lee Atkinson
, 66, of Leesburg, VA, formerly of Minersville, passed away Tuesday, October 5th, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD.

He was born in Woodbury , NJ on April 13, 1955, a son of the late Dorothy (Schweinhart) and Eugene Moore. He was raised in Minersville by his aunt and uncle the late Blanche and Levan Atkinson

He was the husband of Elizabeth Ann (Smith) Atkinson.

Bob was a graduate of Minersville Area High School Class of 1973, Penn State University, and attended George Mason and Strayer University.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp.

He was employed as an electrical Engineer at the Army Research lab from 1983-2014. Bob is survived by his wife, Ann, a step-daughter, Dana Bosmajian, a brother, William E. Moore, cousins, nieces, nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 11th at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc.in Minersville, with calling hours from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral home Inc., Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.
