David M. High, 68, of Pitman, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Ephrata, on July 4, 1953, a son of the late Nora K. (Martin) High who passed away November 25, 2020 and John N. High who passed away November 12, 2009.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lavina W (Weaver) High, who passed away December 6, 2017.

He worked as a farmer alongside his children at their farm in Pitman.

He was a member of Hegins Valley Mennonite Church

David is survived by 11 children, Mary Jane, wife of Michael Stauffer, of Tower City, Harold W, High husband of Lendra, of Ashland, Lavina J, wife of Clifford Zimmerman, of Ewing, IL. Marlene F, wife of Glendon Strite, of Bluford, IL, Rhoda F, wife of Erik Burkholder, of Ewing, IL, David L High, husband of Ashley, of Milroy, Norene B, wife of Nelson Zimmerman, of Belle River, IL, Nancy M, wife of Gabriel Allgyer, of Klingerstown; Merlin J. High husband of Nadine, of Pitman, PA, Glendon L High, of Pitman and Janelle R High, of Pitman; 38 grandchildren; 5 siblings, John M High, Irene M. Martin, Karen M. Nolt, Mark M. High and Lorraine M. Moser; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother Curvin M. High.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Hegins Valley Mennonite Church, 180 E. Mountain Road, Hegins, PA 17938. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 9:30 AM at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Katherine Teichman, 93, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Thursday, October 28th, at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

Katherine was born in Connerton, PA on September 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Marie (Walsh) and William Teichman.

Graduated from Mahanoy City High School.

She worked in Philadelphia as a bank teller for many years and then at City Shirt Factory in Mahanoy City where she retired.

She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City where she was a member of the church choir.

Katherine is survived by a son, Edward, husband of Patricia Teichman, of Mahanoy City, and by 2 Grandchildren Edward Jr. and Tina, 5 Great Grandchildren Jacob, Josh, Ashley, Skylar, and Karissa, 2 Great Great Grandchildren Mason and Jaxon.

She is preceded in death by a brother William.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Teresa of Calcutta, Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 am on Monday, November 15th, with Father Gallagher officiating.

Friend and family may call Monday, November 15th, 9 to 10 am at the church.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fountain Springs, PA.

Janet L. Bressler
, 76, of Llewellyn, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Born on Sept. 8, 1945, in Branchdale, she was a daughter of the late Mildred (Carl) and Roy R. Tobias.

She was the wife of Leroy H. Bressler Jr., who passed away Jan. 17, 2021.

She was a graduate of Minersville Area High School and was employed by the PA Industry for the Blind and Handicap as a camera operator and the postal system.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jacklyn Zelinsky, and sisters, Marie Beury, Joyce Adams, Beverly Venzsl and Novita Tobias.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Mitchell, Llewellyn, Timothy Bressler and his partner, Joanne Miller, Llewellyn, Kevin Bressler, husband of Denise, Tremont, and Yvonne Cunningham, wife of Michael, Pottsville; grandchildren, Rochelle, Ashley, Virginia, David, Sarah, Anthony, Rosalee and Abbylee; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Tobias and Mildred Stoner, wife of David, of Maryland.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Phoenix Park Union Church in Phoenix Park, with Pastor George Sommers officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the church. At the family's request, memorial donations may be forwarded to Phoenix Park Union Church, 2159 Main St., Phoenix Park, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Jennifer Lea Wenner
, 40, of Port Clinton, passed away on Sunday, October 31, at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Bethlehem.

Born on November 30, 1980 in Flemington, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Pamela Wenner Hoptak, Pottsville, and the late Rodney Crutchley. She moved to Pottsville in her adolescence, and worked in local restaurants. She was last employed by Microtel Inn, Hamburg.

She enjoyed traveling, particularly to Disney resorts, with her children.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three children, Gerard Clark, Nathan Clark and Jennessa Brown; five siblings, Elijah Hoptak, Jacquelyn Crutchley, Julia Crutchley, Jodie Crutchley and Jake Crutchley; her maternal grandmother, Annetta Wenner; aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 3:00 P.M.

Betzy E. Guzick
, 91 of Pottsville, died Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East.

She was born May 31, 1930 in Pottsville a daughter of the late Irvin A. and Mary Ann Best Dry

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School.

Prior to retiring she worked at the DHH Lengel Middle School.

Betzy was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Guzick, Jr., on Oct 27 1983; a grandson David J. Guzick, March 12, 2013; siblings, Mrytle Brown, Levina Dry, Helen Dry, Irvin T. Dry, Almeda Evans, George Dry, Donald Dry, Clyde Dry and Alma Stella; a nephew, Marvin Brown;

Surviving are 3 sons, John J. Guzick, III and his wife Mary Catherine; Thomas Guzick and his wife Cathy; James Guzick and his wife Atty Lori; all of Pottsville. 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Betzy's wishes there will be no services.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Paul H. May
, 83, of New Ringgold, West Penn Township, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, in his home with his long-time life partner Thomas Rhoades by his side. Prior to retiring, he was employed for 30 years as an office manager for Tri State Refrigeration Inc., Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Harold S. and Margaret E. (Reimold) May. Paul served with the US Navy Reserve for 8 years and reached the rank of YN3, Petty Officer 3rd Class. He was affiliated with the Baltimore Opera Company, and the West Penn Township Lions Club. He was fascinated with and collected Egyptian Artifacts, classic music, and movies of the silent era. He was also preceded in death by a brother Glenn E. May. Surviving in addition to his companion, Thomas, are a sister, Loretta J. Marcomin, of Maryland; two nieces, Amber Levett, of Maryland, and Lara Brocklegby, of Texas. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in The Gardens of Faith Memorial Park, Baltimore, Maryland. Contributions may be made in his name to your local SPCA.
