Aaron P. Stevens
of Mahanoy City, passed away unexpectedly on Monday November 22,2021. 

The son of James and Marie (Dolbin) Stevens he was a 2006 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and was a former member of the PA National Guard. He was a welder by trade. 

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sisters and step siblings Shannon Stevens, Krista Stevens, Marissa Stevens, James Stevens Jr., Nicole Stevens and Patrick Stevens as well as aunts, uncles, nieces an nephews. 

A kind gentle soul Aaron will be greatly missed. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday morning at 10 AM at the German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. The Rev. Robert Adams will officiate.

Gloria A. (Zimmerman) Beaver
, 79 of Ringtown passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Shenandoah on July 29, 1942 she was a daughter of the late Guy and Helen (Moyer) Zimmerman.

Gloria attended the Union Elementary School, Ringtown was a graduate of the former Ashland High School.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Shenandoah Manor as a certified nursing assistant (CNA).

Gloria was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Ringtown. Her pastimes included crossword and Suduko puzzles. Above all else, the time she cherished most was that spent with her family. She was a very loving and caring wife, mom, gram and gigi.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her daughter, Mary Beaver; twin great-grandchildren, Nolan & Quinn Malloy; two brothers, Joseph and Walter Zimmerman; one sister, Jacqueline Pries; and her son-in-law, Robert “Rob” Rakus.

Surviving are her husband with whom she celebrated sixty years of marriage, Robert Beaver; two sons, Robert M. Beaver of Ringtown and Phil G. Beaver of Ringtown; two daughters, Catherine “Cathy” Rakus of Ringtown and Margaret “Marge” Gozditis and her husband Joseph of Ringtown; eleven grandchildren, Jeffrey Rakus, Shawn Rakus, Kristyn Malloy, Amanda Pukavage, Megan Beaver, Lindsey Beaver, Morgan Beaver, Ashley Gozditis, Rachel Gozditis, Angela Beaver and Gloria Beaver; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Mikulak of Ashland; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Religious services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 11:00 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Rev. Dominic Thao Pham, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ringtown. A viewing will be held on Thursday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Rita “Sharon” Smolock
, 75 of 2 Paul Street, Ashland, passed away at Seton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orwigsburg on Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Born in Centralia on May 31,1946, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Frances (McGinley) McHale. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Catholic High School.

Sharon was married at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Centralia, on August 27, 1966, to Joseph Smolock, who survives.

Sharon was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, where she was employed as an Automotive Director.

She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she was also a member of its Friends of St. Joseph. She loved to volunteer her time at the church. She was an avid reader, bingo player, and maker of unforgettable food. She enjoyed her many trips to the beach and was able to fulfill her dream trip when she traveled to Ireland. Most of all, she was the greatest mother and grandmother of all time and she relished in the chance to influence every life she touched.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Joseph Smolock and his wife Kim of Conyngham Valley, and Bryan Smolock and his wife Tara of Ashland; one daughter, Erin Smolock and her husband Shawn Meier of Girardville; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Kaitlin, Shawn, Liam, Roan, and Ayden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Bernard McHale.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 3,2021 at 10am at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Centralia. There will be no visitation.
