Tamaqua Area and Borough Police Investigating Incident Involving Football Team

The Tamaqua School District has released information on the reasoning behind a forfeit by the district's football team last week.

This past weekend, the Tamaqua Area School District was scheduled to meet the North Schuylkill Spartans in the District XI Semi-Finals.  On Friday, a day before the game, Tamaqua announced they would be forfeiting the game due to "an incident at the high school".

Since then, there have been many rumors on social media on what "the incident" involves and we can't confirm that just yet.

On Monday, the Tamaqua School District announced they have been conducting an investigation  that began last Thursday along with Tamaqua Borough Police into an incident involving the district's football team.

"We have been taking appropriate measures identified under school policies, procedures, and law", according to the press release.

The release, which was signed by Superintendent Raymond J. Kinder, concluded with "Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation regarding a student disciplinary matter of a juvenile nature, we are only permitted to share limited information. We ask that you respect this as we continue our process.".

Skook News will continue to provide updates on this investigation as information becomes available.
