James John Stednick
, 85, of Brockton, PA died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in Orwigsburg, PA. He was the husband of Catherine "Betty" (Oler) Stednick to whom he was married 60 years this past May. 

Born in Mary D, PA on August 14, 1936, James was a son of the late John and Susan (Bubel) Stednick. He worked for State Manufacturing in New Philadelphia, PA prior to his retirement. James enjoyed the outdoors, keeping up on the news by reading the newspapers, and watching pro wrestling on television. A member of the former St. Jerome Catholic Church, he currently was a member of The Parish of St. John XXIII. An incredibly good man, James would help anyone needing assistance. 

In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by sisters, Marie Stewart of Hometown, PA, Florence Kubik of Allentown, PA, and Rita Anderson of Florida and numerous nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and grandnieces. 

Services will be held at a later date. Memorials in his name may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Luanne Marie Chickilly
, 65, of New Ringgold, PA died on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in Allentown, PA. She was the wife of David Chickilly to whom she was married 32 years this past June. 

Born in Newark, New Jersey on August 2, 1956, Luanne was a daughter of the late John and Marion (Macaluso) Tyahla. She grew up in the Panther Valley and was a student in the Panther Valley School District. Luanne was an employee of the former Klingaman Office Supply business, Tamaqua for over 20 years. She had also worked for the former Atlas Company in Reynolds and most recently was employed at Boyer’s Market. A kind, wonderful soul who helped everyone, Luanne loved hosting get togethers. She was a terrific cook who made the best home cooked meals and Christmas cookies. Luanne was a great Yahtzee player and had a gardening green thumb with plants and flowers. She loved her children and grandchildren and spending time with them. 

In addition to her husband, David, Luanne is survived by children, Chris Kruslicky and his wife Donna of Summit Hill, PA, Lisa Chickilly of Union, NJ, Angela Chickilly of Schwenksville, PA, and Susan Sidoriak and her husband Ted of Phoenixville, PA; grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Maggie, Chloe, and Valerie; sisters, Jonile Miller of Lebanon, PA and Maureen Tyahla and her husband J. D. Davis of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, John Tyahla and his wife Trish of Summit Hill; and several nephews and nieces. 

Services will be held at 7 PM on Monday, January 24 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad Street, Tamaqua. Call from 6-7 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. COVID-19 protocols will be followed.

Kay M. Sitler, age 67, of Kaska, PA passed away Wednesday, January 19th, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill, East, in Pottsville.

Born in Waynesboro, PA on June 14, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and A. Jeannine (Fisher) Baugher.

Kay was a graduate of Waynesboro High School, Class of 1972. She first worked for S. Railway in Washington D.C.and then for the PA House of Representatives in Harrisburg. She also worked for State Representative Klingaman out of his Tamaqua office. Kay last worked as a H.R. Manager for Shoeneman's Beauty Supply from April 1983 till Sept. 2009. She continued working with their successor company Cosmo Prof (Sally Beauty Supply) until retiring in the Spring of 2018 as a H.R. Business Partner. As a H.R. Professional, she was Past President of the Society for H.R. Management. In 2006, she was awarded H.R. Professional of the Year by the Northeast PA Manufacturers and Employers Association. Kay loved going camping, baking, gradening, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Kay is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dale W. Sitler, Kaska; two daughters: Jessica and her companion Shawn Martin Mansell, Schuylkill Haven; and Brianna and her husband Mark Cuttie, Frackville; grandchildren: Michael, Wesley, Chase, Ava, and Emma; brother Karl Baugher, New York City; sisters Debbie and her husband Ray Stoops, Waynesboro; and Wendy and her husband Vic Alexander, Chambersburg; sister-in-law Beth Ann and her husband Ed Thomas, Kaska. and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon at 7PM on Thursday, February 3rd, with Rev. Jack Murray officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday from 5:30-7PM at the Funeral Home.

Paul J. Balogach, 75 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania died on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Born Friday, August 30, 1946 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the son of John Paul, and Antonette (Yuda) Balogach. Paul was also predeceased by; sister, Diane Balogach; brothers, Richard, Michael, David, and Robert Balogach.

Surviving are; daughters, Lola Bannan wife of Robert of Barnesville, Stacy Stapleton; son, Brandon Balogach; brothers, Gary Balogach, Eugene Balogach and his wife Jessie, Glenn Balogach and his wife Debbie, Dennis Balogach; sisters, Karen DeAngelo wife of Joseph, Antonette Craigle wife of Lon, Veronica Wagner wife of Tod. Many nieces and nephews also survive Paul

A graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Paul was a talented Auto Body Repairman. A pool shark, Paul played in local leagues, and enjoyed driving in his el camino.

K. Sam Miller
, of Lake Hauto, and former longtime resident of Pottsville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 17, 2022, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale, Pennsylvania at the age of 92.

Born Monday, February 4, 1929 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania son of the late Robert, and Lucy (Scheidegger) Miller. Sam was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Emily (Evans) Miller; brothers, Robert, Arnold, and Leonard Miller.

Surviving are; daughter, Megan Hufford and her husband Steve; grandsons, Evan and Bradley.

A 1946 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Sam attended Bucknell University where he played football. Sam worked in the automobile business all his life. He also served honorably in the Army Reserve for 16 years. Sam was a long time member of the United Presbyterian Church of Pottsville where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years in addition to being a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian. Sam along with his wife Emily were charter members of The Dual Valley Recreation Association.

Sam enjoyed telling stories with his infectious smile, gardening, and cooking. More than anything, he loved his family and adored his two grandsons who affectionately called him Sam. He will be sadly missed by his family who take solace knowing that he will be reunited with his beloved wife Emily to whom he was married for 64 years.

Delores R. Neiswinter
, 93, former Ashland resident, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Geisinger Shamokin Hospital, Coal Township. Born in Ashland, August 9, 1928, she was the daughter of George and Beatrice Fisher Roberts. She was a graduate of the former Ashland High School, class of 1946, and was employed as a sewing machine operator for the Ashland Shirt Factory, until her retirement. Delores was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland until its closing. Later she attended Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Ashland, volunteering at many of the church activities and fund raisers. She and her late husband, Donny, loved to travel as well as go fishing in many beautiful places. Preceding her in death was her husband Charles Donald Neiswinter, passing on April 14, 1997, and a sister, Lois Roberts Fetterman, passing March 22, 2014 and brother in law David Fetterman Jr.
