Mary Heckman
, 70, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Thursday, February 10th, at her residence.

Mary was born in Reading, PA on November 10, 1951, a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Wenrich) and Harry Heckman, Sr.

She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City.

She graduated from Central Catholic High School class of 1969 and Kutztown University where she graduated with a Bachelors in Education.

She worked as a software support technician at View Point in Portland Or.

Mary is survived by a son, Matthew Heckman, of Gardners; and by a sister, Patricia Gordon, of West Lawn, a brother, John, husband of Sharon Heckman, of Tobyhanna;

She is also survived by 3 Grandchildren Brenden, Jacob, and Rachael.

She is preceded in death by a brother Harry Heckman Jr. and a sister Elizabeth Levanti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 am on Friday, February 18th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.

Friends and family may call Friday from 9 to 10 am at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Wileen (Kowalick) Blackwell
, 42, of Pottsville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning in her residence.

Born in Lost Creek on February 28, 1979, she was the daughter of William L. and Colleen J. (Mack) Kowalick.

She was a 1997 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School and attended Penn State University majoring in Psychology.

Wileen was a member of St. Patrick R.C.C., where she also taught Sunday School.

She worked as a Nurses Aide at Schuylkill Center for 18 years.

Wileen was very active with Boy Scout of America Troop 615, Pottsville.

She enjoyed traveling, visiting Gettysburg and taking in all its history, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Wileen is survived by her husband, Jeffrey A. Blackwell, to whom she was married 19 years; her special “nephew”, William Horning; sister, Emmeline Lewis, wife of Chad, of Pottsville; niece, Wyatt Margaret; “special niece”, Lilly Settle; and Quinn Harper.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday evening, February 17th, at 7:30 p.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating. A visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service.

The family request contributions in Wileen’s memory be sent to: Hillside SPCA, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Kenneth C. Herring, Sr.
, 65, of Pine Terrace, Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at home.

Born on December 24, 1956 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late LeRoy D. and Eva M. Kerschner Herring.

He was a 1974 graduate of Pine Grove High School and was a member of Hetzel's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.

Kenneth was a self-employed truck driver.

He was a member of the Friedensburg Fish and Game and Little Run Gun Club. He also loved hunting.

Preceding him in death were three sisters, Joan Herring, Susan Witmer, and Paula Winn and a brother Dwayne Herring.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth C. Sr. and wife Tiffany Herring of Pine Grove; a daughter Danielle and husband Robert Kennemore of Tremont; a step daughter, Niki Wessner of Tremont; 6 grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren; five sisters, Betty Ann and husband James Martin of Schuylkill Haven, Michelene Young of Green Castle, Christine and husband Rick Hummel of Shamokin, Denise and husband Mike Burke and Penny Shadler, both of Pine Grove; two brothers, Randy and wife Sharon Herring of Pine Grove, Fred and wife Doris Herring of Grantville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Friedensburg Fish and Game, c/o Ralph Fidler, 169 Stone Mt. Rd., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in his memory.

Nellie Terefinko, 96, of Minersville, died Thursday, February 10th, at LVHN Schuylkill East, Pottsville. 

Nellie was born in Foster Twp., on March 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Anna (Luchanin) and Harry Loyco. She was the widow of Michael Terefinko who died, January 10, 2005. Nellie was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church of Minersville. She was a former clerk in the Schuylkill County Prothontary office. She had once been very active with the local Republican party. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Michael, she was preceded in death by a Son, William Terefinko. Sisters, Anna Welkie, Mary Petruncio, Julia Fulmer and a Brother Michael Loyco. 

She is survived and loved by many nieces and nephews who she treated like her own children. 

A Requiem Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 am Wednesday, February 16, at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville, with Reverend Mark Fesniak officiating. 

All are respectfully invited to attend a visitation Wednesday with calling hours from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville. Interment will be at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Frackville. 

All current COVID-19 CDC guidelines should be followed. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc, Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.
