Mary Ann Brode
, 67, of Tamaqua, PA died on February 2, 2022, at home. She was the wife of Roger Brode to whom she was married 39 years this past August. 

Born in Coaldale, PA on July 26, 1954, Mary was a daughter of the late Eugene Carroll and Lucy (nee Martin) Smith. After she attended the Hazleton Vocational Technical School to acquire her LPN license, she was employed at the Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Prior to earning her LPN license, Mary was a personal care provider, waitressed, and was a factory employee. However, she enjoyed being at home and was the caretaker of her family. Mary was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua. 

In addition to her husband, Roger, she is survived by daughter, Christine Alfaro and her fiancĂ© Russell Gernert of Tamaqua; son, Brandon Brode and his wife Elizabeth of Tamaqua; step-daughter, Sonia Brode of Delaware; grandchildren, Brittney Pester of Tamaqua, Jade Lee and her husband Tyler of West Virginia, Savannah Alfaro of West Virginia, Delilah Brode of Tamaqua, Dakota Brode of Tamaqua, Nathaniel Brode of Tamaqua, and Ellie Brode of Tamaqua; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Rinker and her husband David of McAdoo, PA; brothers, David Carroll and his wife Carol of Lake Hauto, PA and Bruce Carroll of Tamaqua; and several nephews and nieces. 

Mary was predeceased by granddaughters, Nicole Huegal and Samantha Durling. 

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. John “Jack” Joseph McGlinchey
, 82, of Hometown, PA died on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at home. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Kay (nee Knoblauch) McGlinchey in 1992 and his second wife, Ann Marie (nee Miller) McGlinchey in 2019. 

Born in Coaldale, PA on April 6, 1939, Jack was a son of the late John and Thelma (nee Brode) McGlinchey. A 1958 graduate of Marian High School, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War and has been a member of the Tamaqua American Legion, C.H. Berry Post # 173, the Tamaqua Knights of Columbus, and a social member of the East End Fire Company, Tamaqua. Prior to his retirement, Jack was employed as a bakery plant manager for Drake Bakeries. Upon retirement, he returned back to Hometown to enjoy life in the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. 

A loyal friend and devoted father, Jack is survived by daughter, Michelle Mertrud and her husband Richard of Wayne, NJ; son-in-law, Larry Schwind of Vernon, NJ; grandchildren Alicia Freeman and her husband Tyler, Richard Mertrud and partner Erica Frasco, Reno Schwind, and Kyle Schwind; great grandchildren, Jason Freeman and Payten Freeman; siblings, William McGlinchey of Georgia and Dolores Digelio and her husband, Jo Jo of Nesquehoning, PA; sister-in-law, Theresa McGlinchey of Tamaqua, PA; and several nephews and nieces. 

He was predeceased by daughter, Jacqueline Schwind in 2013 and brothers, Robert Brode and Jimmy McGlinchey. 

Services will be held and announced at a later date. Memorials in Jack’s name may be made to the Tamaqua American Legion, C.H. Berry Post # 173, 206 West Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Allen Mummey
, 94, of Zion Grove, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 4th, 2022.

Allen was born in Zion Grove, on September 8, 1927, a son of the late Mame and William Mummey.

Allen was employed at the former Mr. Hanger factory in Ringtown for many years, and was retired from the Bloomsburg Carpet Company. He was also a lifelong farmer, working on his family farm.

He was a former North Union Township Supervisor, and was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.

Allen enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, planting flowers and playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed hunting rabbits and was a member of the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years on March 31, 2020, Jeanette (McGlynn) Mummey and by three sisters, Janet Mummey, Emily Stauffer and Florence Schmidt.

Allen is survived by three sons, Dennis, and his wife Kendra of Zion Grove; Vern, and his friend, Julia Wincek of Ashley; and Scott, and his wife Karen of White Haven.

He is also survived by 3 grandsons, Dennis Joseph Mummey, Robert Mummey and Kyle Mummey, in addition to nieces and nephews.

A vewing will be held from 9-11 AM on Tuesday, February 8th at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at the Mt. Zion Church in Zion Grove.

Allen will be laid to rest along side his wife Jeanette in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, following the service.

James A. Neumeister, 91, of Fountain Springs, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2022, at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Lebanon. 

The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, will announce funeral arrangements.
