Leroy C. Schnoke
, 98, of Spittler Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 in the Lebanon VA Hospital.

Born on September 26, 1923 in Pine Grove Twp., he was a son of the late Harry and Sallie Heiser Schnoke.

Leroy attended Pine Grove High School.

He was an Army Veteran, serving with the 75th AAA Gun Bn and was in the Army Reserves for 5 years.

Leroy was a truck driver for Franklin Stump Coal Co., worked construction at Mt. Gretna on the interstate I-81 project and Kingston Construction Co. at the Lebanon reservoir in Suedberg and worked for Day and Zimmerman at Cressona Aluminum. He retired in 1982 after 33 years as the Head Food Service Supervisor at the Lebanon VA Hospital.

He was a member of St. Peter's UCC, Pine Grove for over 65 years. He was a life member of the Tulpehocken Rifle and Pistol Club in Pine Grove and Ravine Fire Co., and a member of the North End Fire Co. and Suedberg Fire Co.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 66 years, Erma L. Lengle Schnoke; and a brother, Clayton Schnoke.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis and wife Margaret Schnoke, Robert and wife Kathyrn Schnoke, both of Pine Grove; four grandchildren, Rebecca Schnoke Dunkelburger, Jonathan Schnoke, William Schnoke, and Jessica Schneck; two step grandsons, Damon Lengle, Jr., and Michael Stenulis; five great grandchildren, Jesse, Jetta, Jax, Jase, and Garrett Schnoke; three brothers, Charles Schnoke, Harry Schnoke, and Harold Schnoke, all of Pine Grove.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to either Hospice of Central Pa., 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, Pa. 17110 or Meals on Wheels, checks payable to Diakon Community Services, 118 S. Centre St. Pottsville, Pa. 17901 in his memory.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Andrew “Slo” Hertz, Jr.
, 85, of Minersville, formerly of Primrose, Cass Township, passed away on Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill – East.

Born on February 12, 1937 in Glen Dower, Foster Township, he was a son of the late Andrew Hertz, Sr. and the late Anna Polk Hertz. He was a 1955 graduate of Cass Township High School, where he lettered in varsity football in his senior year. He joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation, serving as a Cryptology Technician with the 1949th Communications Squadron of the Military Air Transport Service, both in the U.S. and in Germany.

Slo was a hard-working, self-employed landscaper, tending lawns and gardens, and shoveling snow for many Minersville area residents, all of whom will miss him dearly.

A member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville, he was a devout and faithful Catholic, never missing Mass, whether on Sundays, Holy Days and First Fridays. He was at peace with his God.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Emil, James, Michael and George Hertz; sisters, Maryann Muscara and Gloria Walasavage.

Slo is survived by his longtime companion, Ann Marie Walinsky, Primrose; five siblings, John Hertz (spouse, Joanne), Thomas Hertz (spouse, Marie), Arlene Reiff, Paul Hertz (spouse, Frances) and Betty Mae Hertz; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Monday from 8:00 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Interment with military honors will be on Tuesday at 11:30 A.M. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be no procession to the cemetery. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at the cemetery by 11:15 A.M. The family prefers contributions to Holy Family Parish, 538 Sunbury St., Minersville, PA 17954.

Harvey A. Green
, 78, of Ashland passed away Tuesday evening at home.

He was born on June 23, 1943 in Ashland and was the son of the late Lula (Yarnall) and Harvey I. Green.

Harvey was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School Class of 1962 he also attended Allentown Bible College.

Harvey and his wife the late Betty Lou Green were the owners of Green’s Family Restaurant, Lavelle and Green’s Wholesale Produce, Mt. Carmel over a 58 year span. He made many friends along the way while delivering on his “market route”.

Harvey was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church, Lavelle.

Harvey enjoyed playing guitar, Elvis and country music. Others will remember him for being a passionate Trump supporter.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou (Zimmerman) Green who passed away in 2016.

In addition to his wife he is survived by; sister Lois Schoffstall wife of Charles, Gratz; sister Eloise Winfree wife of Wesley, Prescott AZ; son Robert “Bobby” Green husband of Brandy, Ashland; daughter Donna Slater wife of John, Ashland; 4 grandchildren Lexy Green, Rachel Green, Dr. Nicole Slater-Coleman; Dr. John Slater III; great granddaughter Ruby Coleman; nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday April 2nd from 9-10 AM at Evangelical Methodist Church, 2870 Fairgrounds Rd, Ashland PA 17921. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM in the church. Burial will follow in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle.
