Gloria J. Lipsky, R.N., 75, of Seltzer, Norwegian Township, passed away on Sunday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born on April 23, 1946 in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (nee Ziemba) Oshman. She was a 1964 graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School and also graduated from the Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing in 1967. She was employed by the former Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic throughout her nursing career, having last worked as a Medical-Surgical Charge Nurse until retiring.

Gloria was a loving and giving mother and grandmother who learned (and passed down) Polish and Lithuanian recipes from the Old Country from her mother and mother-in-law, Eva. Ethnic favorites often graced the dinner table, and she was a frequent patron at the many festivals and block parties for which Schuylkill County is known.

She loved dogs, especially the family beagles, Barney and Bandit.

In retirement, she and her husband became avid travelers, visiting Alaska, the Caribbean and Australia.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert J. Lipsky, Sr., in 2014.

Gloria is survived by two sons, Robert J. Lipsky, Jr., Seltzer, and Michael Lipsky (spouse, Mindy), Pottstown; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Zachary Lipsky; her brother, Jack Oshman, Frackville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at 12:30 P.M. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family prefers contributions to the Salvation Army or SPCA.
