Helena Naydock, 90, of Orwigsburg, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Seton Manor.

Arrangements are being handled by Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Homes.

Calvin N. Hoy
, 78 of Pottsville, died peacefully Saturday morning at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born February 21, 1944, in Pottsville, a son of the late Calvin W. and Eva Stine Hoy.

He was a 1962 graduate of Blue Mountain High School and attended Penn State University.

He was a Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War, assigned to US Army Strategic Communications Command (STRATCOM) and received Signal Man of the Month award, November 1966.

He was employed as a caseworker by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, and also enjoyed working at Hess Gas Station and socializing with the patrons, both of Pottsville prior to retiring.

Cal was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and PSSU Local Union in which he held several official positions. He also was a member of the Orwigsburg Historical Society, where he spent countless hours researching his family history as well as for other families.

Surviving are his wife Janet Dalton Hoy; a son, Kevin Hoy, Pottsville; 2 daughters, Christine Welker and her husband Ron, Pittsburgh; Deanna Batory and her husband Steve, Schuylkill Haven; 7 grandchildren; Shaeleigh, Vincent, Giavonna, and Natalia Welker; Shawn, Kyleigh and Blake Batory; a twin sister, Carol Hannaway and her husband Robert, Orwigsburg; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11AM from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Kevin J. Bobbin as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30-11AM Saturday at the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Cal be made to St. John Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St, Pottsville, PA 17901 or Orwigsburg Historical Society & Museum, 109 E Mifflin St. Orwigsburg, Pa 17961. Interment with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
