John “Jack” Monroe Miller
, 80, affectionately known as “Moose," has sailed on to his “Next Great Adventure!” As he jokingly referred to the afterlife. 

He was born on September 1, 1941 in Hometown, PA. He passed away on May 18, 2022. Jack graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1959, where he played football, and track and field. He attended Penn State, and later received his degree from Temple University. Some of his most treasured memories were of his time served in the U.S. Navy (1959-1965). He spoke fondly of his cruises, shipmates and travels around the world. Jack worked as vaccine and anti-venom production manager and retired from Wyeth Ayerst Pharmaceuticals. He enjoyed PSU football and NASCAR, discussing politics, history, and rescuing animals. 

Jack is survived by his daughter, Allison, Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Miller, his wife of 42 years, Pamela Miller, and his sister, Mayna Miller. 

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Visitation at 10 am, funeral services at 11 am, with interment at Sky View Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite local animal shelter or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Shawn L. Wetzel
, 60, of Millersburg, passed away early Saturday morning, May 21, 2022 at his home after a brief two month courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Pottsville, February 2, 1962, a son of the late Chester and Grace Schade Wetzel.

Shawn was an union electrician with IBEW Local 143, Harrisburg.

He was a member of Susquehanna Lodge #264 F&AM, Millersburg, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Short Mountain Conservation Club, Loyalton.

Shawn was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, golfing, archery and rifle hunting. He was a handyman who could fix anything. He will be remembered for his devotion and dedication to his daughter, always making sure she had everything she needed.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, David Wetzel and a half brother, Gary Schade, a niece Tracy Wetzel and a nephew, Anthony Schade.

Surviving are his wife, Yolanda L. Keister Wetzel, who shared 40 wonderful years together; his daughter; Dusti L. Wetzel at home, two sisters; Janet Artz, Williamstown and Gail Fry, Harrisburg. Numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Shawn's life will be held on Thursday, May 26th at 5 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Visitation will be from 4-5 pm at the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, to help find a cure to this terrible disease.

James T. Geist, Jr.
, 80, of Tower City, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at UPMC-Harrisburg.

Born in Pottsville, December 9, 1941, a son of the late James Sr. and Ethel Miller Geist. Jim was a 1959 graduate of the former Porter Tower Joint High School. He was a United States Army Veteran.

Jim was retired from the federal government where he worked for over twenty years. Prior to that he worked for ITT-Terry Phone Company.

He was a dedicated and faithful member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Tower City, a member of the Tower City Legion, Tower City Loyal Order of the Moose, and Tremont Senior Citizens. Jim was proud to support the Republican party, enjoyed going to the horse races and watching all sporting events on television.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita and Gloria Geist.

Surviving are his companion of 12 years, Cardella "Cardy" Shutt and her family. Jim is also survived by his church family and his cat Buffy.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City with his pastor, Pastor Annette Shutt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 400 E. Grand Avenue, Tower City, PA 17980 or It Take Heart Kitten Zoo, 10363 Rt. 209, Tower City, PA 17980.

Alice Lee Rozetar
, 92, formerly of Minersville, passed away Wednesday, May 18th, at Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gordon Nagle Trail. 

Alice was born in Minersville, Pa. on August 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Grace (Moore) and Clarence ‘Scrapper’ Ford. She was the widow of Donald James Rozetar who died in 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pottsville She was a member of the Minersville High School National Honor Society Class of 1947. She was formerly employed by the NJM Insurance Group. 

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by a daughter Lee Ann Komonchak and a son-in-law, Andrew Komonchak. 

Alice is survived by a son, James A. Rozetar and daughter-in-law Cheri Rozetar. She is also survived by Grandsons Alan T., husband of Suzy Rozetar, Mitchell J. ,husband of Kori Rozetar. Granddaughter, Molly E. Rozetar, Great granddaughter, Lily C. Rozetar, Great grandson Crew T. Rozetar, Nephews and nieces Robert & Annette Rozetar & Rick & Renee' Rozetar. 

A Visitation will be held 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 24th at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc. in Minersville, PA. A Religious Service will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery.
