Locust Lake State Park to Celebrate 50th Anniversary Friday Evening


The Friends of Tuscarora and Locust Lake State Parks will host a 50th Anniversary Celebration of Locust Lake State Park on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 4:00-9:00 pm at Locust Lake State Park.
This is a family- friendly, free, community celebration for the park and her 50th anniversary! 

Food trucks, yard games, music, face painting, touch a truck, children’s author and astrophysicist, children’s museum program and activities with be on hand and end the evening with stargazing.
  • 4:00 - 7:00pm Food Trucks, Touch a Truck, Yard Games, and Face Painting.
  • 5:00-7:00pm Acoustic Bluegrass Duo of Cavage and Sudigala from the Hickory Project
  • 5:30pm Olde Tyme Toy Program by Porcupine Pat
  • 6:00pm 50th Anniversary Ceremony
  • 6:30pm Dr. Julia Kregenow, the author of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, I Know Exactly What You Are” for a read-aloud of her book for all guests beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Kregenow will bring a scale model of the solar system and host an Astronomy Question and Answer.
  • 7:00pm Lykens Valley Children’s Museum presents their “Under the Stars” program with engaging and fun STEM and Art stations focused on space and the James Webb Space Telescope. These stations are fun for all space lovers!
  • 8:00pm Children’s Book Giveaway - each child will get a ticket for a door prize to be entered to win an autographed children’s book about Space. We have 4 autographed books about space to giveaway!
  • 8:00pm James Webb Space Telescope presentation
  • 8:45pm Stargazing with Berks County Amateur Astronomical Society
Bring your own chair or blanket!


All activities will be free of charge. There will be food and drinks for sale, autographed books for sale, and limited edition 50th anniversary patches will be for sale.
