Born Friday, October 30, 1936 the son of the late Harry W., and Harriet (Garber) Whitehead. Donald was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years; Phyllis J. (Kester) Whitehead on December 12, 2021. Donald was also predeceased by; brother, James "Buddy" Whitehead; son-in-law, James Hatmaker.
Surviving are son, Douglas H. Whitehead and his companion, Ellen Fretz of Bernville; daughters, Deborah K. Hatmaker of Coaldale, Pamela J. Golinsky wife of Thomas of Lancaster; grandchildren, Nikki, Eric, Alicia, Nathan, Danielle, Kevin and his wife Lauran; great grandchild, Corson.
A 1956 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Donald served honorably in the United States Army. Returning home Donald began his 27 year career serving as a Police Officer with the city of Pottstown. An avid outdoorsman, Donald enjoyed hunting, and fishing. Donald was a talented woodworker, and carver. An avid reader, Donald enjoyed reading books about military history. Donald was a member of the former Advent Lutheran Church of Tuscarora, Tuscarora Fire Company, and Shartlesville Fish & Game Club. Donald, and Phyllis had enjoyed camping.

Interment Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania. Military Honors will be bestowed.
