Born in Tamaqua, PA on August 23, 1930, he was the son of the late John C. and Bertha (Shollenberger) Betz. A 1949 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Chuck earned a bachelor’s degree in 1952 from Tri State University, now Trine University, in Angola, IN. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Methodist church. Chuck was very active politically, especially in Los Angeles. He was one of the architects of Proposition #13 which dealt with property tax limitations in the state of California. Chuck was the last living child of John and Bertha having been preceded in death by sisters, Doris Ugolick and Helene D’Angelo.
He is survived by several nephews and nieces. Services are private.
