Nancy J. Moyer, 83, of Orwigsburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, while at her daughter’s home in New Ringgold.

Born in North Manheim Township on May 31, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William and Leah Heffner.

Nancy was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Marjorie L. Faust, wife of Carl E. Faust of New Ringgold. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Heather Rose Faust.

Services are private at Nancy’s request and entrusted to Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. Nancy will be laid to rest on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven with her mother and father.

John G. Lucas
, 70, of West West Terrace, Branch twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2022, with his family by his side at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. 

Born on August 23, 1952, John was the son of the late John E. and Julia (Kellman) Lucas. John was a graduate of Minersville Area High School Class of 1970. He worked as a product technician at Tredegar Film Products for 40 years. He grew up in Branchdale and was a life member of the Muddy Creek Sportsman Club and was a former trap shooter for Seltzer Gun Club trap team. John was a hard-working man and dedicated husband and father who enjoyed woodworking, reloading and going on trips to Atlantic City with his family. John frequently shared self-curated words of wisdom. One recent saying he shared was "Know when you need to go slow and steady, and when you need to go bombs away". 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edward J. Lucas Sr. in 1983.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Christine Lucas; daughter Katherine Lucas (significant other Robert Merinsky) of Hamburg; son John J. Lucas (significant other Amy Slovick) of Orwigsburg; brother Kenneth Lucas (wife Katherine) of Cumbola; sister Pauline Eltringham (husband Thomas) of Minersville; aunt Irene Grabusky (husband Charles) of Seltzer; brother-in-law William Koons (wife Sally) of Shenandoah Heights; sister-in-law Mary Katherine Koons of Washington D.C.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 11th at the Mahal Ritzel Funeral Home Inc. Minersville with calling hours from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. A religious funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to the Hillside SPCA, 51 SPCA Rd. Pottsville, Pa. 17901 Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home inc., Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.

Peter J. Dowger
, 58, of McAdoo, passed away suddenly Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton, he is the son of Patricia (Dvorshak) Dowger, McAdoo, and the late Peter Dowger.

Peter was a member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo and a 1983 graduate of Hazleton High School.

He was currently employed at Michael’s Distribution Center, Hazle Twp.

Peter was an avid Penn State fan and attended many home football games. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Polkas.

Peter always looked forward to family holiday dinners, and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his sister Michele Winchilla of Drifton; nieces Sarah and Natalie and nephew Robert; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His funeral will be held Monday. Rev. Msgr. William Baker will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial in Church of All Saints, McAdoo, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cemetery, McAdoo.

Calling hours are Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.

The Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
