Marie A. "Dolly" Micka, 95, of Pottsville, passed away on Monday morning at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville, on January 25, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Natale and Domenica (Borga) DePauli.

She attended Pottsville High School.

Marie was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Micka, on December 17, 1989, and to whom she was married 43 years; sisters: Louise, Laura, Josephine, and Anna; brothers: James, Nathan and Louis.

Marie is survived by three daughters, Ellen Micka, of Pottsville; Deb Micka, of Reading; Pat Micka, of Pottsville; granddaughter, Michele Holdrum, wife of James; great grandson, Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are private at the convenience of family.

Maryann (Marion) Pikitus
, 89, Girardville, passed away peacefully at Serenity Gardens, Kulpmont on Wednesday morning surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Kulpmont, she was a daughter of the late Bronislaw and Mary Cupsta Lazarski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Pikitus; a baby daughter, Christine Ann Pikitus; her brothers: Ben, Henry, Peter, Louis, Chester, Stanley and Anthony Lazarski; her sisters: Edna Piechowski and Frances Vargo.

Marion was a devout member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Girardville where she was a past president of the rosary society. She was an avid fisher, was an excellent cook and devoted her time to her family.

She is survived by her three children: Juanita and her husband Tom Petrusky, Elysburg; Mary Kay and her husband Tom Squires, Preston Hill Girardville; Francis B. Pikitus and his wife Krista, Preston Hill Girardville; her beloved grandchildren: John Squires and his wife Terry, Joe Squires and his wife Candice, Katie and her husband George Misunas Jr., Tommy Petrusky and his wife Devin, Kara Petrusky and her companion Brandon Dock, Rebecca and her husband Hunter Bordner and Francy Pikitus; her great-granchildren: Hunter Misunas, Tate Joseph Squires, Willow Rayne Squires, Joel Quick, Oakley Bordner along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 3rd from St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Girardville with Rev. Giuseppe Esposito, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends are invited to her viewing at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Serenity Gardens and Advantage Hospice for the care given to Marion through the end of her life.

Shirley Arlene (Bayliff) Barlow, 90 of Shenandoah Heights passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Shenandoah on April 25, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Calvin I. Bayliff and the late and Ida Mae (Dillman) Bayliff Gibson.

She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the accounting departments at both the former Locust Mountain State Hospital, Shenandoah Heights and the former Ashland State Hospital for nineteen years.

Shirley was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Brandonville.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, George Washington Barlow; her son, George Calvin Barlow; four sisters, Mabel Blankenhorn, Dorothy Haswell, Betty DeCrease and Geraldine Karvois; and one brother, Calvin O. Bayliff.

Surviving are her son, Mark Barlow and his wife Norma of Frackville; two daughters, Deborah Zagrosky of South Berwick, Maine and Edna Rauco of Shenandoah; five grandchildren, Lisa Winward and her husband Jim, Kristen Doyle and her husband Tim, Courtney Lewars and her husband Cody, George L. Barlow and Justin Pasinski and his wife Skye; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony, Joey, Nicholas, Mila, Rylan, Jake and Ethan; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Marie M Artz, age 100, formerly of Valley View, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Providence Place, Pine Grove.

She was born on Sunday, May 7, 1922, in Klingerstown, a daughter the late of Daniel W Artz and the late Lola M (Davis) Artz.

Marie was a seamstress in area garment factories, prior to her retirement.

She was a member of ILGWU and the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens.

Marie enjoyed going on trips, seeing shows, and doing word search puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, Marlin D Daniel, a brother, Fayne Artz, and her companion, James Murphy.

She is survived by two cousins, Andrew P Kissinger of Valley View and Barbara Witmer of Millersburg.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento.

John K. Wehry
, 74, of Locustdale, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-East.

Born in Ashland on August 4, 1948 he is the son of Shirley (Kerner) Wehry and the late Kenneth Wehry.

John is the husband of Beverly J. (Shoup) Wehry. Earlier this year they celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 24th.

He was of the Evangelical faith and was a lifelong member of Grace Evangelical Independent Church-Locustdale.

John was a graduate of North Schuylkill High School Class of 1967. After high school he attended McCann School of Business.

He worked his entire career for Goulds Pumps in Ashland as a forklift operator. John always worked many side jobs as well to support his family.

John enjoyed spending time with his favorite grandson Alexander.

He is preceded in death by; father Kenneth Wehry; sister Nancy Wehry; sister Lori Ann Cabulis.

In addition to his wife John is survived by; mother Shirley Wehry, Locustdale; brother Kenneth Wehry (Debra), Locustdale; brother Robert Wehry (Robin), Locustdale; brother David Wehry (Cathy), Locustdale; daughter Jennifer L. Wehry (Anthony Adams III), Locustdale; son John K. Wehry Jr. (Jennifer A.), Ashland; grandson Alexander Sewilam, Locustdale; many nieces, nephews & cousins.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 3rd from 9-11 AM at Grace Evangelical Independent Church, 3127 Main St, Locustdale PA 17945. Services will be in the church at 11AM with Pastor Rose Marquardt officiating. Burial will follow services at Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

In lieu of flowers donations can be in John’s memory to the church memorial fund or UCP Central PA, 55 Utley Dr, Camp Hill PA 17011.

Jacqueline M. Korn, 83, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Shamokin.

Born on June 7, 1939 in Ashland she was the daughter of the late Mary T. (Mehan) and Wilfred Korn.

She was a graduate of Ashland High School Class of 1957.

Jacqueline was of the Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Ashland.

She worked as a sewing machine operator for Gitman Bros. in Ashland.

In her younger years she enjoyed riding horses.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her twin sister Caroline A. Korn.

Jacqueline is survived by; sister Marsha E. Stahler (William), Manheim; niece Trudy Grimm (Joe), Manheim; nephew William T. Stahler (Theresa), AK; great nieces & nephews.

Services and burial will be held privately at the family’s request.
