Walter Francis Englert
, 54, of Tamaqua, PA died on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at home. 

Born in Coaldale, PA on October 24, 1968, he was a son of Theresa A. (Farber) Englert of Tamaqua and the late Joseph C. Englert. Walter attended Tamaqua Schools and was employed as a heavy machine operator for Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction Company. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Keystone Fish and Game Club, the West Penn Rod and Gun Club, and the Kellner’s Dam Association. Walter was a fan of the Grateful Dead. He was of the Catholic Faith. 

A wonderful father, he is survived by daughter, Theresa "Tessa" Englert and son, Charles Englert both of Herington, Kansas; sisters, Carol Keerans of Tamaqua, Barbara Englert and her partner Tom Edmonds of Still Creek, PA, and Sharon Russell and her husband Robby of Tamaqua; and many nephews and nieces. 

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Englert and Thomas Englert. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Call 9-11 AM at the funeral home. Casual dress is welcome. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Walter’s name may be made to the funeral home to help defray the cost of the funeral. Online condolences may be made at www.zgfuneralhome.com.

Kirk A. Hopkins
, 50, of Pottsville, passed away on November 4, 2022, at his home

He was born in Pottsville on March 16, 1972, He was the son of the late Carl E. Hopkins and Linda (Blair) Hopkins.

Kirk loved oldies music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. He loved trains, passenger vans, his family, and friends. Kirk's biggest goal was to help other people in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Danny Blair.

Kirk is survived by two sisters, Bonnie Udut and Betty Shepherd, both of Lebanon, three brothers, Randy Blair, York, Brian Blair, Jonestown and Donnie Blair, Delaware.

A Memorial Service on Saturday, November 19th at 2:00PM at Schlitizer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market Street, Pottsville. Friends and family are invited to call from 1:00PM till the time of the service.

Theresa A. Aaron
, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Bridgeway Care Center in Hillsborough, NJ.

She was born in Ashland, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Charles and Ina Aaron.

Theresa was a big part of both her niece, Mary G. Sopko and her nephew, John C, Fidler's lives when they were growing up. She worked at Gavin Electronics in Bridgewater, NJ for many years before retiring.

She loved her family, that was her world. They always brightened up her life. She was the type of person who when she was asked to do something she never said no. Theresa loved animals and especially her cat named Angel. She also loved Western movies and lottery scratch offs. She lived a long and healthy life.

She is predeceased by a niece Betty Barber and by a great nephew Ryan Sopko.

She is survived by her two nieces, Mary G. Sopko of Manville, NJ and Roseanne Brown-Gray of Manville, NJ and by her nephew John C. Fidler of Manville, NJ. She is also survived by her great niece Megan Sopko and great nephew Kyle Sopko and his wife Amanda and their children Olivia and Avery.

A viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 10-11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo, 1115 Walnut St, Ashland PA 17921. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the viewing at 11:00 AM in the church with Rev. Giuseppe C. Esposito officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Ashland.

Eugene C. "Gene" Sacco,
resident of Sheppton, Pa passed away Thursday November 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 19, 1939, in Shenandoah, PA Gene was the son of the late Nicholas and Rose (Pancerella) Sacco.

Gene graduated from Ringtown High School in 1956 and attended Stevens Technical Institute of Lancaster, Pa. In the early 70s he opened Genes TV and Appliances in Shenandoah with his brother Phil followed by stores in the Schuylkill Mall and Cressona Mall. He went on to work for Motorworld Group, Mercedes Benz Division until he retired in 2010.

Gene was always a champion for the Shenandoah downtown businesses. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, UNICO, Shenandoah Lions Club, and was the President of the Shenandoah Rotary Club. He was instrumental in the construction and funding of the Shenandoah Miners Memorial and was on the board at St. Joseph's Hospital where he played an integral role in securing the building of the helipad.

Gene shared the past 38 years with his loving wife, Maria (Sasso) whom he cherished and adored. They did everything together and enjoyed a beautiful life with their four-legged companions, Chivas, Regal, Dewars and Tito.

Gene was larger than life! He loved fine wine, good food, & the occasional scotch. He was a hunter and a golfer and loved entertaining. He was an amazing father, loyal friend, and an ever-loving Pop Pop.

Preceding Gene in death, in addition to his parents, were his sister Nancy (Sacco) Papaleo and his brother John Philip "Phil" Sacco.

Gene is survived by his wife Maria (Sasso) Sacco, his daughter Maria Sacco Handle and her husband, Joseph Handle, III of Brigantine, New Jersey; his grandchildren, Rosalie Handle, Joseph Handle IV, and Eugene Handle; his sister Angelica and brother Nicholas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a great-great niece as well as his extended family and many dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, November 18th from 5 to 8pm at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, Shenandoah and continuing on Saturday morning, November 19th from 9 to 11am. Scripture services will be held on Saturday morning at 11am in the funeral home and will be officiated by Deacon Jack Quirk. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
