Shenandoah Valley Begins National Art Honor Society Chapter

Shenandoah Valley Art teacher Jennifer Zemek has begun the process of initiating a National Art Honor Society Chapter beginning this coming school year.

Participation in this program will provide students with not only peer recognition, but leadership growth opportunities, college and career preparation, and a sense of self-esteem as a result of their participation in artistic endeavors. In addition, students will be made aware of scholarship availability that will assist them in deciding what college they might consider from a cost consideration standpoint.

To be eligible students in grades 9-12 must have a 90 average in art and a B average in other subject areas, and letters of recommendation from two teachers.

The chapter will meet weekly afterschool from 3:00 until 5:00 where they will initiate school projects to utilize their artistic skills aimed at creating school spirit in both the school and throughout the community.
