Clarence Michael Jones, 80, of Shenandoah Heights, passed away on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa.

Born in Shenandoah on June 6th, 1942, he was the son of the late Clarence and Alice (Hopkins) Jones.

Mickey was a graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School. He retired as a forklift operator for Jeld-Wen in Ringtown. He was a lifetime social member of the Shenandoah Heights Fire Company, a social member of the Amvets, a member of the Rum Dums, and was an avid Notre Dame Football Fan.

Besides his parents, Mickey was preceded by 1 brother, David Jones, and 3 sisters, Joann Jones, Betty Richards, and Jeanne Houser.

Surviving is his loving wife, Cheryl (Hoffman) Jones, 3 sons, Christopher Jones – Shenandoah, Jason Jones- Shenandoah, and Larry Murphy – Ringtown, 2 daughters, Kimberly Kacilowicz with Frank – Shenandoah and Michelle Gulden – Shenandoah. 2 sisters, Mary Mathias – NJ and Kathy O’Malley with James – Levittown. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mickey was a man who was loved by all. He always found a way to make you smile and laugh. The love of his life, Cheryl and he would have been married 35 years in January. They were never apart from each other, and he still affectionately referred to her as “his bride”. He loved playing with his great grandchildren like he was a child himself. They absolutely adored him as he did them. To say he will be missed dearly would be an understatement.

A visitation for family and friends will take place on Wednesday, December 21st from 9 to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be held at 11am. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Freida E Morgan
, age 98, of Pitman, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at her daughter's home in Hegins.

She was born on Wednesday, November 12, 1924, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Harry H Willier and the late Emma (Heim) Willier.

Freida was a 1942 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Prior to her retirement, she and her late husband operated a family farm in Pitman.

She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church, Pitman.

She was also a member of Woodman of the World, Pitman and the Mahantongo Fire Company.

Freida enjoyed playing Rook, quilting, and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Robert E Morgan passed away in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Patti J Lohr and her husband Steve of Hegins; a granddaughter, Brittany M Strohecker and her husband Andrew of Jonestown; a great grandson, Isaac A Strohecker of Jonestown; five sisters, Mary Brosius of Millersburg, Ruth Morgan of Ronks, Emma Smink of Harrisburg, Arlene Masser of Pitman, and Nancy Willier of Pitman; a brother, Bruce Willier of Leola; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Todd Wolfe officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Paul's EC Cemetery, Pitman.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's EC Church, 172 Ridge Road, Pitman PA 17964.

Joseph M. Purcell, Jr.
, 73, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday, December 13th, at his residence.

Joseph was born in Pottsville, PA on March 3, 1949, a son of the late Catherine (Koury) and Joseph M. Purcell, Sr.

Joe preceded in death by his wife Pamela (Fox) Purcell who died Jan 26, 2022 and a sister Ellen Brier who died November 26, 2021.

He worked in Sales and Marketing for T 102 Radio and announced all the Pottsville Crimson Tide Football games for the radio station.

Joseph is survived by a daughter, Katie, wife of Pardo, of Phoenix AZ, a son, Sean Purcell, of Conshohoken; also surviving a grandson Jasper Prado, a nephew Joseph Brier, and two nieces Rebecca Caplan and Ashley Russo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 21st, at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville, PA with Father Phillip Rogers officiating with a visitation for family and friends from 1 - 2 pm at the church.

Entombment will be in Saint Patrick's mausoleum, Pottsville.

Ebling Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona has been entrusted with the arrangements.

John Michael (Butch) McShaw
, 82, of Auburn, passed away Monday, December 12th, at home.

John was born in Pottsville, PA on December 17, 1939, a son of the late Margaret (Williams) and Michael McShaw.

He was preceded in death by his wife June (Reber) McShaw who died October 1, 2016 and a son Jason McShaw who died May 2, 1991.

He was an usher at St. Patrick's church Pottsville.

Butch was the former owner of M & W Sanitation and Coal and was a Driver for Pottsville Sanitation and Waste Management.

He coached little league baseball and was a former team manager.

Butch is survived by two daughters, Debra, wife of Donald Womer, of Auburn, PA;
Kelli L Nettles. He is also survived by five grandchildren Stephen Fessler wife Pam Schuylkill Haven, Shannon Seiders Pottsville, Brittany Stevenosky wife of David Pottsville, Bryce J. Nettles Schuylkill Haven and Braydin Nettles of Kutztown. Six great grandchildren Blakelee, Jayeson, Tayla, Stephen Jr, Demetra and Zoe, two sisters Marie Updegrave wife of Rodney Tremont and Joan Lafferty wife of Michael Pottsville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 19th at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville, PA with Father Phillip Rogers officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be 9:30 - 10:30 at church.

The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions to American Cancer Society 16 North 4th Street Minersville, PA 17954.

Interment private at convenience of the family.
