Frederick J. Brahler, 92, of the Yorkville section of Pottsville passed away on December 29, 2022, at Providence Place, Pottsville.

Born on November 7, 1930, in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Catherine (Bortzel) Brahler, Sr.

Fred was a 1952 graduate of Penn State University. After his graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Upon completion of his military service, he attended Georgetown University School of Law. After successfully completing one year of graduate studies, Fred discerned the life of a Trappist monk at the Abbey of Our Lady of the Genesee, Piffard, NY. Fred was a Novice for two years before departing in 1959.

He retired as the office manager for the Law Firm of Williamson, Friedberg & Jones LLC, Pottsville.

Fred was a lifelong parishioner of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, where he sang in the men's and parish choirs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Mary Louise Moran, Joan Marie Glosser, and Carol Ann Conway; brothers: Edward J. Brahler, Jr. and Joseph A. Brahler; and nephews: Joseph Glosser and Thomas Moran.

Surviving is his brother, Richard; his sister-in-law, Kathy Brahler, wife of Joe; along with 18 nieces and nephews; 41 great nieces and nephews; and cousins of his father's brother: Joseph and Christopher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 9th & Mahantongo Streets, Pottsville, on Monday, January 2, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. with his nephew, Msgr. William F. Glosser, as the celebrant. All are invited to attend the funeral Mass. There will be no visitation.

Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery not far from the original family homestead of Adam and Matilda Brahler occupied by a member of the family since 1867.

Memorial donations can be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901 or Our Lady of the Genesee Monastery, 3258 River Rd., Piffard, NY 14533.

Robert “Rob” Kalbach
, 25, Schuylkill Haven, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, December 28th .

Rob is survived by his father, Charles “Curt” Kalbach and Nicole Graziano of Tarpon Springs, FL; his mother, Holly Richardson Stemko and her husband Tom Stemko, Hamburg; his brother, Brandon Ty Kalbach, Tamaqua; his Nanny, Joanne “Joey” Kalbach, Hegins; his uncle, Nick Kalbach and his wife Tara of California.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

Walter Paul Yackel
, 71, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30th at Penn Hospital in Philadelphia, while holding hands with his beloved family. Born in Ashland on July 29th, 1951, he was the son of the late Walter & Ann Yackel of Shenandoah. Walter (or Paul as he was known to his family) was a Navy veteran, air traffic controller, skilled carpet installer and most recently he worked at SCI Mahanoy from which he retired as a captain. In his spare time, he was an avid Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles fan, and he played the role of handyman for the entire family. He was especially proud of the man-cave that he built in the basement of his home.

Above all else, he loved his close-knit family. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2021, LaVerne Yackel, to whom he was happily married to for 21 years. He is survived by 3 loving sisters: Sharon Starr (Tony)-Mohrsville; Susan Yackel-Somers Point NJ, & Gayle Rehnert (John)-Pottsville. Additionally, he is survived by his 5 beloved children: Sean Yackel (Patrice)-Maple Shade NJ; Jennifer Boody (Dan)-Marlton NJ; Heather Davis (Tim)-Marlton NJ; Paul Kanigoski (Denise)-Lake Wynonah & Leah Donovan (Jim)-Pottsville. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Ciera, Addison & Kayson Yackel; Mackenzie & Griffin Boody; Tyler, Paige & Ashley Davis; Corey (Liz) and their daughter Elena (great granddaughter), Jordann Seasock & Elizabeth Donovan. Also, by many beloved nieces & nephews – he had a particularly close, special relationship with his nieces Lindsay (Andrew) of Conshohocken & Lauren of Philadelphia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo Street Pottsville, at 10 am on Wednesday Jan 4th, celebrated by Father Kevin Bobbin. Visitation for family & friends will be held at St John's beginning at 9am. Interment will immediately follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Walter’s name to The American Legion in Schuylkill Haven or the Hillside SPCA in Schuylkill County.

Katherine L Reinhart
, 58, of Pottsville, passed away on December 22, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born on February 26, 1964, in Connellsville, PA, she was a daughter of the late David and Mary Catherine ( Bryner) Stone.

She enjoyed collecting things and playing games on her table.

She married Bernard L. Reinhart on June 25, 2011.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Richard Hayden, A daughter, Jessica Harr, a grandson, Trent Harr, three brothers, Richard Wills, Larry Wills, and Robert Stone, sisters, Barb Steindl and Patty Martin Hayden.

She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Hayden, Brother Wilburt Wills and John Stone.

The family will announce a memorial service at a later date.

Services have been entrusted to Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Pottsville.
