Gerald Hanford Long, Sr., 90, of Pine Grove, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February 6, 2023, in Providence Place, Pine Grove.

Born on December 23, 1932 in Donaldson, he was a son of the late Hanford Joel and Grace Evelyn Boyer Long.

He was a graduate of Frailey High School and Tremont High School.

Gerald was in the U.S. Army for 2 years attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class and retired after serving over 20 years in the Army National Guard. He received medals for artillery, good conduct and achievement.

He was a Butcher Shop Manager for the former A. & P. in Tremont, a Kitchen Supervisor at Ft. Indiantown Gap and Kitchen Manager for the Army Reserves.

Gerald was a former 33 degree Mason, treasurer of Zion Lutheran Church in Donaldson, secretary of the Donaldson Rod and Gun Club, Cub Scout Leader in Tremont and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always smiling, pleasant, and full of good stories and memories.

Preceding him in death was a sister Phyllis Meneeley.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Elaine Reber Long; a daughter, Lisa and husband Jeff Klinger, Sr. of West Chester; a son Gerald Jr. and wife Guen Long of San Luis Obispo, CA; a granddaughter, Elise and husband Kevin Pierce of Coatesville; a grandson Jeff Jr. and wife Michelle Klinger of Philadelphia; and a brother Arthur "Skip" Long of Pine Grove.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Brian Beissel officiating. Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer contributions be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in his memory.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove is in charge of arrangements.

George M. Ball
, 73, of Pottsville, PA, formerly of Mahanoy City, passed away Tuesday, February 7th, at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

George was born in Mahanoy City in his homestead of 717 East Center, on July 11, 1949, a son of the late Florence (Truskowsky) and Victor Ball, Sr.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer at Fort Hood Texas during the Vietnam War.

George belonged to the Mahanoy City Social Club, TPA, and Mahanoy City Historical Society.

He worked for Mahanoy City Sewer Authority for 35 years as Plant Manager/Operator. After retirement he served on MCSA Board.

An avid fly fisherman and hunter, he truly enjoyed a lifetime of this at his Cousin’s cabin and within Pine Creek Valley, PA.

He was the husband of Susan (Stitzer) Ball, to whom he was married for 49 years.

George is survived by a daughter, Vikki, wife of Craig Buffington, of Pottsville; a son, Joshua, husband of Allison (Cresswell) Ball, of Schuylkill Haven; He is also survived by 3 awesome grandchildren, Brody,and Sonni Ball, and Georgia Buffington, four sisters, Betsy Day, of Mahanoy City; Lucille, wife of John Sullivan, of Mahanoy City; Michele, wife of Gerald Haldeman, of Marmora NJ; Mary Wohnhaas, of Colorado. A brother-in-law Mark Stitzer. As well as many amazing cousins, nieces and nephews

He is preceded in death by his brother Victor.

Services are to be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made in Georges name to the Mahanoy City Social Club and the Mahanoy City Historical Society.

Thomas Robert Irvin
passed away peacefully the morning of February 8th, surrounded by his family at 68 years of age.

Tom was born on February 18th, 1954, in Ashland, PA to the late Robert Irvin and Caroline (DeAngelo) Irvin. He graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1972 and Penn State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science. He spent the last 33 years as a heavy equipment operator at WMPI in Gilberton. Additionally, he was a lifetime member of the Altamont Fire Company.

Tom loved to spend time outdoors hunting and fishing. However, possibly, his favorite hobby was chopping wood to heat the family home. He spent a lot of his time cheering on his favorite teams, which included the New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers.

Above all else, Tom was a family man who dedicated his life to providing for his wife and children. He is survived by his wife, Lynne (Morgan) Irvin of Gilberton; daughter, Gabrielle, wife of Jonathan Green, of Conshohocken, PA; son Jacob Irvin, Gilberton and a brother Joseph Pulaski, Frackville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Irvin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the David D. Jarrett funeral home, Mahanoy City. Family and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:00. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Marilyn E. Davidson, age 73, of Port Carbon, PA passed away Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 at her home.

Born in Pottsville, PA on July 12, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Melvin M. and Jean (Frantz) Davidson Bennett.

Marilyn was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1967 and then graduated from Empire Beauty School in September 1968. She then open Marilyn's Beauty Shop in Port Carbon and last worked in the medical records at the Pottsville Hospital then Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill until retiring on her 70th birthday.

Marilyn was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Port Carbon. She loved knitting and crocheting and won ribbons in contests and also loved traveling and going on cruises.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Adrienne Chimahusky and her husband Brian, Pottsville; her granddaughter Alexandra Chimahusky, Phoenix, AZ; her brother William Davidson and his wife Debra, New Philadelphia; her niece Heather Martin, Pottsville; her nephew Shaun Davidson and his wife Lauren, Mechanicsburg; her granddog Bella, who will miss her dearly and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date by the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's memory to American Lung Association.
