As of 8:30am, Monday, Route 54 remains closed in Barnesville from an incident Sunday afternoon.
Around 4:15pm, Sunday, emergency personnel were called to Route 54 near Lakeside Beverage in Barnesville, Ryan Township, for a report of wires down.
A garbage truck that was traveling through the area at the time pulled several wires and poles down in the area.
Due to the cleanup of the incident, Route 54 had to be closed between Grier Avenue and Tuscarora Mountain Road.
Mahanoy Area opted to go virtual Monday due to students traveling through this area.
Crews are back on the scene Monday morning. No word on when the road will reopen as of this posting.
UPDATE (12:00pm, Monday) - The road remains closed.
