Earl J. Davenport, Sr., 63, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday at Orwigsburg Center in the presence of his family.

Born on August 8, 1959, he was a son of the late William and Ruth (nee Evans) Davenport. He attended Pottsville schools.

He was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Minersville, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a current member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville. He began his career at the former Cadillac Cable as a machine operator, rising to a supervisory position at Cadillac's successor, the Prysmian Group until his illness.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Davenport and Charles “Butch” Evans; three nephews, Justin Austerberry, Gage Evans and Travis Newton.

Earl is survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Bernadette Newton; three children, Earl J. Davenport, Jr., Zachary Tyler Davenport (spouse, Laura), Pottsville, and Desiree Anne Davenport (companion Devin Ruggiero), Womelsdorf; a grandson, Javon Charles Wilson. He is also survived by four siblings, Karen Yarnell, Karen Bolich, James Davenport (spouse, Marie) and Jo Ann Barket (spouse, Edward), all of Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 6:00 A.M. until 9:15 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Interment will be private. Helen F. Savitsky
, 94, a resident of the Laurels Senior Living Community in Hazleton and formerly of Shenandoah Heights, passed away on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, at her residence.

Born and raised in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella “Tacelosky” Yablonsky. She was a graduate of the West Mahanoy Township High School.

Helen was one of 12 children who grew up working in the family’s grocery stores. She later worked as a cashier and office manager for Genetti Markets.

Helen enjoyed gardening, traveling, and cooking for her family. She was a kind and generous woman who was loved by all who knew her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in 1989 by her husband of 42 years, Stanley Savitsky, along with 4 brothers, Joseph, Albert, Leonard, and Francis, and 2 sisters, Bertha Yablonsky and Irene Schreppel.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Brophy and her husband Martin – Shenandoah, 2 brothers, Paul Yablonsky – Shenandoah and Charles Yablonsky – Morrisville, 2 sisters, Mildred Chimolowski - Stanford and Marie Kakalecik – Douglasville. Nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, from 9 to 10am in Divine Mercy Parish, 218 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10am by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. Burial will immediately follow in St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the Hillside SPCA or the Ringtown Public Library.
