Edward D. Reed, 84, of N. Front St., Friedensburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

Born on December 24, 1938 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Warren and Miriam Clauser Reed.

Edward was a 1956 graduate of Cressona High School.

He was an Army veteran having last served with the 16th Det 562d Arty Fort Bliss, TX.

Edward worked in maintenance for Honeywell in Marlin.

He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Friedensburg, Camp Robert Hunting Lodge and Friedensburg Fish and Game.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Pamela Reed and a sister, Joyce Casner.

Surviving are his wife of 60 1/2 years, Darlene Fisher Reed; a daughter, Debra and husband William Winslow of Green Lane, Pa.; a son, Robert Reed of Pine Grove; four grandchildren, Tyler Winslow of Coopersburg, Pa., Samantha Winslow of Portland, OR, Amanda and husband Christopher Geltmacher of Columbia, Pa. and Andrielle Wolfe of Louisville, KY; two great grandchildren, Zachery Lambert and Christopher Reed Geltmacher; a brother, Kenneth Reed of New Bloomfield; four sisters, Joan Rhen of Orwigsburg, Emma Jane and husband Dale Nowland of Northeast, MD, Marie Marshall of Vancouver, WA, Linda and husband Dr. Charles Green of The Villages, FL; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in St. John's Reformed Cemetery, Friedensburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. John's Reformed Church Memorial Fund, 17 Chestnut Street, P. O. Box 58, Friedensburg, PA 17933 in his memory.

Elbert L. "Bert" Stegmeier
, 73 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital - Bethlehem Campus surrounded by his family.

Born Wednesday, May 4, 1949 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, Bert was the son of the late Elbert P. and Merle (Miller) Stegmeier.

Bert was a 1967 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. He owned and operated his Phillips 66 Service Station on route 309 in South Tamaqua as well as Stegmeiers Custom Powder coating. After selling his auto repair shop, Bert worked at Advanced Auto in Tamaqua for 10 years while still doing powder coating. Bert had a passion for cars and was an all around handyman. He was proud of his children; Steve for following in his footsteps with a love for fast cars, fixing things and powdercoating; and Stephanie, a drug and alcohol counselor as well as Ashtanga Yoga teacher in Wyomissing.

Surviving are son, Stephen N. Stegmeier and his wife, Katryna of New Ringgold, PA; daughter, Stephanie A. Stegmeier of Temple, PA; 2 grandchildren, Stephen A. and Mallory; former wife Andrea Stegmeier; and his Companion, Catherine Jane Derr.

Services have been entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc, 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252 570-668-2550.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2023 at 7:00. Friends may call 5:30-7:00 at the funeral home.

Joseph Andrew Coleman, Jr.
, 81, of Tamaqua, PA, died on Friday, April 14, 2023, in Coaldale, PA. He was the husband of Janet (nee Tuckett) Coleman with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage this past November. 

Born in Newkirk, PA on December 12, 1941, Joe was a son of the late Joseph A., Sr. and Catherine (Quinn) Coleman. A lifelong resident of Tamaqua, he attended Marian High School and was a member of The Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua. Joe was a sanitation truck driver and an employee of the sewage treatment plant since the 1970’s until his retirement. He was a life member of the East End Fire Company in Tamaqua, a social member of the Tamaqua American Legion, and an avid Notre Dame fan. A simple man with a very big heart, Joe enjoyed sitting on the porch and loved being around his grandchildren and friends. 

In addition to his wife, Janet, he is survived by sons, Joseph A. Coleman, III and his wife, Janine of Tamaqua and Michael W. Coleman and his wife Brandey of Tamaqua; daughter, Patti Sue T. Coleman and her fiancé, Eric Rehrig of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Parker, Elaina, Liberty, Zander, Zachary, Gabriel, and Quinn; sisters, Barbara Karnish of Tamaqua, and Judy Coleman of Tamaqua; and several nephews and nieces. Joe was predeceased by brother, Patrick Coleman and sisters, Patricia Quinn and Mary Arnold. 

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, April 19, from 5-7 PM, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Montana D. Edmondson
, 23, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday, April 13th, at home.

Born in Pottsville on July 7, 1999, he was the son of Kevin and Melanny Kline, of Schuylkill Haven.

He attended Schuylkill Haven schools and graduated from Schuylkill IU 29.

Montana was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan -please wear your Eagles attire for the funeral.

In addition to his parents, Montana is survived by a brother, Dakota Edmondson; two half sisters, London and Liliahna; a half brother, Billy; a step sister, Alexis; and a step brother, Danny. He is also survived by his grandparents, Ida and Donald Randt, companion Coralia Chwastiak, aunts, uncles, and a cousin.

Montana is preceded in death by his grandfather, Randy Kline; great grandmother, Betty Gallo; and grandfather, Thomas Edmondson.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, April 17th at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc in Schuylkill Haven, PA with Great-Uncle Bill Schafer officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 until the time of the service.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

At the family's request, memorial donations may be forwarded to Geschwindt-Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home Inc., 25 East Main Street, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972, to help defray the costs of the funeral.

David Marvin Moyer
, 77, of Spring Glen, went to Heaven suddenly, Thursday April 13, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born in Spring Glen, November 15, 1945, a son of the late Marvin and Geraldine Dunkelberger Moyer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son David Jr., 2021, a grandson, Brandon Moyer, 2022, a great grandson, Jayden Yerges, 2022, and his mother-in-law, Helen Frew Heintzleman, 2022.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Georgina Frew Moyer, whom he married on June 5, 1964; a daughter, Luana Moyer (Brian Stoneroad), Herndon; a daughter in law Trudy Houtz (David Jr.) Wiconisco; six grandchildren, Lori Moyer, Nicole Stoneroad, Hope Moyer, Victoria Yerges, Devin Moyer, and Amber Whyno; 12 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law George Frew Jr.; sisters-in-law, Helen Miller, Luana Butensky, JoLynne Fenstermacher and Donna Hubler.

David owned and operated a ceramic shop and lawn care service. He also worked security for AMP, Incorporated.

David's interests included daily Bible study, painting pictures, taking care of his flower beds, and riding his John Deere tractor.

David's family wishes to thank the Hegins Ambulance and St. Luke's Hospital for the excellent care giving to David in his time of need. Also special thanks to Luana and Brian who were always there whenever needed and to Trudy, Amber, and Charlie for stuffing us with food.

David will be be laid to rest privately in the St. Peter's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Frances T. Quirk
, 84 of Pottsville, died peacefully Thursday morning at Providence Place, Pottsville.

She was born May 3, 1938 in St. Clair a daughter of the late William and Mary Malia Monahan.

She was a 1956 graduate of St. Clair High School.

Prior to retiring she was employed by the former Uniform Corner.

Fran was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, St. Patrick Senior where she was secretary for many years, Catholic War Veterans Post 1051 Ladies Auxiliary, and a former Boy Scout Leader.

She was always there with a smile, trying to feed each and every one of us no matter the time of day or night and ALWAYS a hug and an “I love you” when you left her house. She is no longer in pain, frail or confused. She is now free to go to school, dance, clean, do laundry and iron to her hearts content. If you knew our Mom/Mom- Mom, you knew she was the most selfless and loving woman to everyone. Her and our Dad/Pop- Pop showed us all the epitome of true love and happiness, and now they are happily dancing together again with God. We will miss you more than you know Mom/Mom-Mom, and we will be forever grateful that we were lucky enough to have the BEST mother/grandmother through all these years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Quirk, SMSGT US Air Force, (Ret) on Oct 25, 2022; an infant granddaughter, Bella Florance Quirk; a brother, John Monahan; a sister, Joanne Fanelli.

Surviving are a son, Joseph F. Quirk, Sr., and his wife Deborah; a daughter, Linda Stock and her husband Robert, all of Pottsville; 7 grandchildren, Joseph F. Quirk, Jr., Michael, and Frank Quirk, Christopher Quirk and his fiancé Kenny Bowman, Jennifer Brindle and her husband Kevin, Nicole Kutsmeda and her husband Shawn, Kevin Stock and his fiancé Kristal Anousinh; 6 great-grandchildren, Mikey, Isaiah and Rebekah Quirk, Liam and Braelynn Kutsmeda, Olivia Brindle; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11AM from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9-11AM Tuesday at the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Fran be made to St Patrick Memorial Fund 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901 or Pottsville Little League Association, C/O 518 Ridge Ave, Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home.

Joseph Kovalovsky
, 59, of Coaldale, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Coaldale. 

He was the husband of Denise Kovalovsky. They were married on October 26, 2001, and celebrated 21 years of marriage. He was employed as an electrician and last worked for Dun-Rite Electrical Services, Whitehall. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Irene (Rosko) Kovalovsky. He was of Catholic faith. Joseph was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wood carving. He loved playing the guitar and playing in a band when he was younger. 

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Kovalovsky. 

Surviving in addition to his wife, Denise, are two stepchildren, Allen Bauder and his wife, Ashley, of Andreas, and Amy Kostick and her husband, David, of Coaldale; sister, Irene Goosley, of Bethlehem; stepmother, Patricia Kovalovsky, of Bethlehem; five step grandchildren, Alexis, Aaron, Alixzander, Jocelynn, and Joshua; and two step great grandchildren, Isabella and Anaya. 

Private service with interment in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309, New Ringgold.
