Jean D. Kroh
, 83, of Joliett passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born in Ashland, November 30, 1939, a daughter of the late William and Verna Carl Lucas.

Jean devoted her life to her family. She will be remembered for being a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed cooking and playing her nightly game of Parcheesi.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Kroh, a daughter Sherry Dubois, a grandson, Richard Kroh, Jr., and a great grandson, Austin Kroh. Jean was also preceded in death by 14 siblings; William, Sonny, Lewis, Henry, John, Joe and Jerry Lucas, Pauline Carter, Anna Mae Lucas, Verna Lucas, Betsy Wolfgang, Marion Deeter, Linda Morgan, and Grace Madenford.

Surviving are her children, Tammy Kroh-Harner (Jamie), Joliett, Richard Kroh (Donna), Joliett, Lamar Kroh (Mary), Pottsville, and James Kroh, Joliett; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; six siblings; Shirley Deeter, Hegins, Carol Nelson, Janet Maidenford, Cindy Schnoke, and Robert Lucas all of Joliett, and Barbara Bassininsky, Llewellyn; nieces and nephews.

Following Jean's wishes she will be laid to rest privately in the Salem Cemetery, Weishample.

Thelma F. Schreffler
, 78, of Sheppton, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023.

Thelma was born in Brandonville on August 18, 1944, a daughter of the late Leon and Bessie (Gilbert) Davidson.

She was a graduate of the former Mahanoy Township High School, and worked as a waitress at the former Flaims restaurant in Sheppton, later retiring from Pilsbury Products in Humbolt.

Thelma loved reality TV and game shows, and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She loved going out to eat and shopping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Novak.

Thelma is survived by her husband of 52 years, Barry Schreffler of Sheppton, and by their two children, John and his wife Carolyn of Downingtown and Kristi, wife of Aaron Piaskowski of Ringtown. Thelma leaves four grandchildren to cherish her memory, Makenna Piaskowski, Isabel Schreffler, Logan Schreffler and Jack Schreffler.

Three sisters, Marie Layton, Lorraine Shenyo, Helen Labuta and a brother Leon Davidson, also survive along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 10th, 2023 at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Zion Grove. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at the church from 9 AM until the time of the service. Thelma will be laid to rest in the Mt. Zion Cemetery following the service.
