Frackville Woman Faces Assault Charges for Brandishing Gun During Domestic

FRACKVILLE - According to Frackville Police, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, around 11:00am, the police department was dispatched to a home on South Center St for a Domestic Disturbance between a mother and he teenage daughter. 

While at the residence, Police were told by the teenage daughter that her mother, Natalie Peleschak, 53, Frackville, brandished a handgun in a threatening manner. A handgun was found in the home. 

Peleschak was taken into custody without incident. 

A criminal complaint was completed by Patrolman Joseph Murton, charging Peleschak with Simple Assault and Terroristic Threats. 

A preliminary arraignment was held before Magisterial District Judge Andrew J. Serina.  Peleschak was released on $15,000 unsecured bail.

Man Consumes Fentanyl in West Penn Township Restaurant

WEST PENN TOWNSHIP - According to West Penn Township Police, on Friday, March 31, 2023, police were dispatched to Leiby’s Restaurant, 848 West Penn Pike in West Penn Township. 

Upon arrival employees directed Police to a table where a man was sitting in an upright position, with his eyes closed, fists clenched, and semi-responsive. Family members sitting with the man stated that he went to use the restroom and came back in this condition. 

Police could see the residue of a powdery substance in the man’s nostril. 

The male was identified as Kurt Nathan Shellhamer, 56, of New Ringgold. 

EMS transported Mr. Shellhamer to St Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale where it was discovered that he had a wax packet containing a powdery substance hidden in his clothing. Mr. Shellhamer admitted to the wax packet containing the drug Fentanyl. 

A computer search showed that Mr. Shellhamer had active probation warrants from Schuylkill County and Carbon County. 

Upon release, Mr. Shellhamer was transported to the Schuylkill County Correctional Facility. 

West Penn Township Police charged Kurt Shellhamer with possession of a controlled substance.

Checks and Cash Stolen from Mailbox

RUSH TOWNSHIP - According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on April 13, 2023, it was reported that someone smashed a mailbox on Fairview Street in Rush Township and stolen cash and checks that were inside.

It's estimated approximately $1,000 was stolen.

Glass Door Smashed in Girardville

GIRARDVILLE - According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on April 14, 2023, it was reported that someone used a stone to shatter a glass storm door on a home on Preston Avenue.

Approximately $200 in damage was done.

State Police continue to investigate this incident.

Garbage Dumping Being Investigated in Mahanoy Township

MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on April 24th, 2023, it was reported that 3 males were caught dumping multiple bags of trash along the roadway on Mahanoy Township Road.

State Police continue to investigate.

Catalytic Converter Stolen in Norwegian Township

NORWEGIAN TOWNSHIP - According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on April 2nd, 2023, it was reported that a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle on Westwood Road.

State Police continue to investigate.

Generator Stolen in Tower City

TOWER CITY - The Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a report of generator that was stolen from South 4th Street in Tower City, sometime between April 5th, 2023 and April 6th, 2023.

Schuylkill Haven Woman Taken into Custody on Bench Warrant

NORWEGIAN TOWNSHIP - According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on March 26, 2023, around 2:15am, a traffic stop was conducted on the Pottsville/Minersville Highway near Minersville on Dana Tucker, 36, of Schuylkill Haven, for a traffic violation.

During the stop, Tucker was found to have an active bench warrant for her arrest.

State Police Investigate Possible Fraud Involving COVID-19 Relief Funds

DEER LAKE - According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, Police received a report on March 28, 2023, in regard to possible fraud in Deer Lake.

The investigation involves the misuse of $364,900 in COVID-19 relief funds, loans, and grants.

State Police continue to investigate.
