Peggy Broderick Owens
, 92, was a lifelong resident of Mahanoy City and graduated from Mahanoy City High School.

Growing up, she was an usher at the Victoria Theater before marrying Joe Broderick. Together for 26 years, they were completely inseparable (you never saw one without the other!) and had a daughter, Maureen. Sadly, Joe suddenly passed away when Maureen was just in high school. No stranger to overcoming hardships in her life, Peggy became the role model for her daughter by providing strength, putting one foot in front of the other, and always seeing the glass as half full. Peggy’s love and respect for her faith then guided her to another chapter in her life when she married Evan Owens. Together for 27 years, they spent many happy and joyous years with each other until his death. Peggy was the quintessential optimist who was genuine and gracious while always providing that continuous smile and positive attitude. As a faithful card sender for every occasion, one always knew they were from Peggy as she personalized each card with underlined words that had specific meaning for each individual. She relocated to Port Charlotte, Florida in 2012 where she resided with her daughter and her best furry friend, Myles.

Peggy is now reunited with all of her loved ones who left this life before her including Joe, Evan, Kit, Hannah, Helen, Claire, Theresa, Jenny, and many more.

Maya Angelou said… “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Peggy definitely had this amazing gift. In memory of Peggy, please take the time to share a sincere hug with someone, provide a good belly laugh, show kindness, and simply be thankful.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Thursday morning at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City.

The Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 10 AM until time of service.
