Urban Scholarship Fund Announces 2023 Award Recipients

Two Mahanoy Area graduates have been awarded the Urban Memorial Scholarship.

For the past 30 years, the Urban Memorial Scholarship fund has been awarding money to graduating students from Mahanoy Area School who plan to pursue further studies based upon merit and need.

Eligible scholarship applicants submit their academic and financial summaries along with their own essays as to why they feel they could benefit from the scholarship grant.

This year's recipients were Benjamin Manley and Tabbatha Ward.

These two worthy students were chosen from a group of seven fine graduating students who completed the paperwork for the chance of the scholarship.

Benjamin ranked 3 of 66 and will be attending Lehigh University and studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Tabbatha maintained a class rank of 10th in her class and intends to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Attorney Anthony Urban congratulated each recipient and presented them with a check from the scholarship fund.  Attorney Brian Urban wished each of them well in achieving their educational goals and all graduating seniors from Mahanoy Area the best for their futures.
