Jerry was born in Orwigsburg, on August 20, 1931, a son of the late Mary C. (Shoener) and Bright A. Berger.
He was the husband of Margaret "Peg" (Hummel) Berger. They were married on January 29th, 1955.
He graduated from Orwigsburg High School, Class of 1949
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ Orwigsburg and he served on the consistory, property Committee and also served as a Deacon.
He was a Partner at Bright A. Berger & Sons Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning for over 64 Years. He retired in 2009.
He was a past member of the Orwigsburg Lion's Club and was active in coaching Orwigsburg Little League Rohrers team and was also a member of the Orwigsburg Tuesday and Thursday Golfers. Jerry was an avid Golfer with 3 holes-in-one.
In addition to Peg, his wife of 68 years, Jerry is survived by
Two daughters, Jayne Prohaska, wife of George, of Phoenix AZ and
Kristine Berger, of Philadelphia.
Jerry is also survived by Two sisters, Mardelle Deibert, widow of Fred; Maryanne Sterner wife of Gale;
Two brothers, Willis Berger, husband of Barbara; Jay Berger, widower of Ruby all of Orwigsburg.
He is also survived by his Grandchildren Katrina, wife of Tony Montoya and Nicholas Prohaska, husband of Tina. Jerry's four great granddaughters are Harper, Lucinda, and Ava & Zara
A memorial service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg on Thursday August 24th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Visitation in the church will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment Services will be private.
Jerry’s family would greatly appreciate if contributions, In lieu of flowers, would be made to St. John's UCC, 236 East Market Street Orwigsburg, PA 17961.
