Ethel M. Hummel
, of Tower City, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Pottsville.

She was a daughter of the late George and Mary Perseponko Mehalko.

In additon to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Harvey J. Hummel, March 18, 2018.

Surviving are her three children, 2 grandsons and three great grandchildren.

Following her wishes she will be laid to rest privately in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Tower City American Legion, 2 Clarks Valley Road, Tower City, PA 17980.

Doris L. "Sis" Hubler
, 82, of Tremont passed away suddenly, Wednesday morning, August 23, 2023 in Pottsville.

Born October 16, 1940, a daughter of the late Foster and Alma Strohecker Keister.

Doris was employed as an aide in the home healthcare industry.

She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and her ability to hold a conversation with anyone. Doris loved to talk and socialize. She enjoyed going out to eat and her trips to the casino.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Kahler; daughter Lori Brobst; son, Bruce Kehler; brothers, Kenneth, Ronald, and Cloyd Keister, and Lloyd Bordner; a sister, Grace Keister.

Surviving are her husband, John Hubler; two children, Sandra Evans and her husband Tom, Pottsville, and Tracy Barry and her husband Bob, Valley View; brother, Gary Keister, Minersville; a sister Sandra Bensinger, Lykens; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the chapel. Private burial will be held in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Steve (Bud) Ezekiel Deeter
, 73, Sacramento, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Tremont Nursing Home.

He was born March 9, 1950, a son of the late Glen and Marion Lucas Deeter.

He was a former coal miner with Hegins Mining Company and later worked for Sauders Eggs.

Steve enjoyed visiting the Tremont Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maryalice Scheib Deeter.

He is survived by three daughters: Stacie Wheary (Rob), Coal Township; Rebecca Zemencik (Curtis), Sacramento; and Alicia Nunemacher (Michael), Orwin. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jericho Zemencik, Rose Zemencik, Xander Nunemacher and Izaiah Nunemacher; a companion, Karen Fetterolf, Hegins; a brother, Melvin Deeter, Hegins and a sister Alice Leininger, Hegins.

Funeral services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, with Rev Suzanne Elliot and Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the service.
