Katherine (Schaeffer) Young Reese, 94, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 in Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Isabel (Lynch) Schaeffer.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Q. Ronald Young in 1966 and her second husband, William D. Reese in 2015

She graduated from Pottsville High School and Kutztown State Teachers College. She was an 8th grade English teacher in the Schuylkill Haven School District for 25+ years until retiring.

She was a member of the Pottsville Philanthropic Club. In her younger years she was very active in Schuylkill Haven civic organizations, where she was a volunteer driver. She was a life long member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she served on numerous committees, boards and was an active volunteer. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to many bridge clubs. She and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Gregory Young and wife Pam and her daughter Cyndi Ryland, widow of Earl “Fritz” Ryland. Also surviving are her grandchildren Graham, Allison and Amanda Young, Christine Matson and Erik Ryland. Also, her great grandchildren, Violet and Scarlett Young, Alexandra Matson, Arianna, Easton, and Wyatt Ryland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Jean Letcher.

Services and burial in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Pottsville will be private at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 S. 2nd Street, Pottsville, Pa. 17901 or the Schuylkill Haven Public Library, 104 St. John Street, Schuylkill Haven, Pa. 17972

Louise Majetsky
, 74, of Trenton, PA, passed away Friday, August 25th, at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

Louise was born in Trenton, PA on March 23, 1949, a daughter of the late Frances (Karlavage) and Edward Mroczka.

She graduated from Mahanoy Area High School class of 1967.

She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church Mahanoy City.

She enjoyed Cooking and baking and watching the Hallmark channel. She worked and retired from Morgan Knitting Mills and worked for many years at the St. Mary's Banquet Facility.

She was the wife of Robert Majetsky, married 47 years.

Louise is also survived by a sister, Cindy, wife of Mike Berezwick, of Trenton, sister in-laws Antoinette Perry, Arlene Vascavage, wife of Charles and brother in-law Larry Klocek. Nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by sisters Patricia and Mary Jane Mroczka and also her sister in law Judy Klocek.

Office of Christian Burial and Divine Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 30th, with Rev. James Carroll officiating.

Friends and family may call Wednesday 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Interment at St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.
