Margaret Ann Shemansik, 73, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Sunday, August 27th, at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

Margaret Ann was born in Mahanoy City, PA on February 2, 1950, a daughter of the late Carmela (Guida) and Joseph Shemansik.

Maggie was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church Mahanoy City.

Maggie had graduated from Mahanoy Area High School Class of 1967, and graduated from Schoeneman Beauty School.

She operated the Margaret Ann Shemansik Beauty Shop.

She was integral in operating the St. Mary's Banquet Facility, and Taught CCD Classes. She was a member of the West End Fire and Rescue Lady's Auxiliary. Mahanoy City PTA, Catholic Daughter, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, the Mahanoy City Women’s Club. She was president of the Home Coming Committee for the Parades in Mahanoy City and loved to help the Good American Fire Company with their events, and was involved with many other community organizations.

Margaret Ann is survived by two brothers, Joseph, husband of Gina Shemansik Jr., of New Boston, John, husband of Fran Shemansik, of Summit Hill and also by Nieces and Nephews

Office of Christian Burial and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 1st, with Rev. James Carroll officiating.

Friends and family may call Friday 9 to 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery Mahanoy City.

Donations can be made to St. Mary’s Byzantine Church Mahanoy City.

Leonard J. O'Connor, Sr. (Lenny)
of Minersville passed away Thursday August 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born December 9, 1951 he was a son of the late Leonard J. O'Connor and Margaret V. (Grace) Moran. He was a 1970 Graduate of Nativity BVM High School. Attended Trenton State College, NJ.

Len was born & raised at the Washington Hotel started working at a young age doing whatever necessary to help family. He went on to a lengthy career at Fleetwood Leather Tannery where he was also a Union Representative. Tannery closed he then went to be a Fuel Dispatcher at Indiantown Gap where he retired.

Len was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville and the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RCC. He was a Member of St. Bernard’s Society of Pottsville, Cass Township AOH and Minersville Area Lions Club serving as a Past President.

A Huge Notre Dame Fan, he helped organize the Branch Dale Notre Dame Bus Trips for years.

Len enjoyed spending time at the Cabin in Cammal, PA with Family & Friends, Hunting. Fishing and Socializing.

He was preceded in death by 5 Moran brothers Francis, James, Thomas (Evelyn), William (Dorothy), Charles (Cathleen), Father-in-law James McCormick, Jr., Brother-in-law Albert Roscoe.

Faithful Canines Rusty & Rowdy.

Len is survived by his Wife of 44 years Julia Ellen (McCormick) O’Connor, 2 Sons Leonard J. O’Connor, Jr. And his companion Amanda Houser of Minersville; Patrick M. O’Connor of Minersville; a Brother Edward Moran (Joyce) of Minersville; Mother-in-Law Bernice (Wolfmeyer) McCormick; Brother & Sister Inlaws

Geraldine Roscoe; James (Rosalie) McCormick; Kenneth (Robin) McCormick; Josephine (James) O’Brien; God Children Alexis Moran, James O’Brien, Jr; Cathleen Moran; many Nieces, Nephews, Great & Great Great Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral Services will he held at 11:00am Friday September 1, 2023 from Donald J. Butler Funeral Home 328 Sunbury St. Minersville, PA 17954 with Rev. Christopher Zelonis officiating. Friends may call from 8:00am – 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Outreach of Holy Family Parish, 538 Sunbury St. Minersville.
