Sarah Slepetsky, 93, of Coaldale and formerly of New Philadelphia, died on Friday, September 1, 2023, in Coaldale. She was the wife of the late Andrew Slepetsky who died in 1979. 

Born in Silver Creek, PA on June 19, 1931, Sarah was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Seary) McElvaney. A graduate of the former Blythe Township School, she was employed by garment factories in Brockton and New Philadelphia. Sarah was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church. 

She is survived by many nieces and nephews including Betsy Steffy and Ellie Faber to whom she was like a second mother. 

Sarah was predeceased by sister, Elizabeth Chinchar; brothers, Robert, John, Joseph, Richard, Thomas, James, and Francis; and nephews, James Chinchar and Robert McElvaney, Jr. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad Street, Tamaqua with Deacon Edward Gerard officiating. 

Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Tuscarora will follow the services. Call 9-11 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to ACTIVITIES FUND, St. Lukes Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 360 West Ruddle Street, Coaldale, PA 18218. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Maria (Lee) Zullo
, age 57, of Hazleton, PA passed away with her sister Nadine, cousin Sondra Lee, best friends Debbie Dianese and Randi Snyder, and her beloved pets by her side on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 at her home.

Born in Hazleton, PA on November 13, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Paul D. Lee and Olga Croce.

Maria was a graduate of West Hazleton High School and worked at Senape's Tavern and Pizza and Fabri-kal, both in Hazleton.

Maria is survived by a daughter Alexis Zullo, Delaware; sister Nadine Rubright and her husband Dave, Port Carbon; nephew Stephen Lescowitch, his companion Tieliegh and his children: DJ Rubright and Kayliegh Lescowitch, Port Carbon; niece Skye Pasinski and her husband Justin and their children; Rylan and Mila, Pottsville; brother Jim Galade, Drums; nephews: Justin, Jimmy, and Jadyn Galade; cousin Sondra Lee; best friends: Debbie Dianese and Randi Snyder; and her fury friends; Ozzie, Oscar, Ziggy, and Jaxon.

Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillside SPCA, where she rescued Ozzie from at P.O. Box 233 Pottsville, PA 17901.

The Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth M. "Liz" Picciano
, beloved mother, g-mom, and great grandmother, 77 years of age of Deer Lake, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the home of her daughter Christine.

Born Wednesday, August 7, 1946 in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Edwin, and Frances (Rizzio) Platt. Liz was also predeceased by her husband, Paul S. Picciano on April 17, 2021; brothers, Joseph, and Gerald Platt; grandson, Zachary Barron.

Surviving are daughters, Christine Stillitano her caregiver with Mike Halford, Lynn Picciano, Paula Barron; grandchildren Christopher Stillitano and his fiancé Nicole, Draylin Stillitano, Peter Stillitano, Katlyn Halford, Gene Collacchi, Nicole and Kevin Culp, Anthony Carr, Lucas Barron, Jacob Baron; 8 great grandchildren.

Liz was Catholic by faith and retired as a unit clerk from Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia. An ardent Philadelphia sports fan, Liz will be greatly missed.

Dora J. Fauber
, 86, of Tower City, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.

Born in Sacramento, June 17, 1937, a daughter of the late John and Sara Adams Salada.

She was a retired seamstress, working at the former JE Morgan, Williamstown. Following retirement, Dora worked in the home health field for several years.

Dora was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed doing puzzles and was an avid reader. Dora was at her happiest when she was camping, especially at Locust Lake. Above all else, her family meant the world to her.

In additions to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by two husbands, Paul Yorty, 1966, and Ernest Fauber, 1991; a daughter, Brenda Klinger, 2019; a great grandson, Bennett Armour, 2014; two sisters, Betty Morris and Norma Hoy; three brothers, George, Roy, and Darwin Salada.

Surviving are her husband of 23 years, George Felty; her daughter, Tammy Miller (David); two sons, Paul Yorty, and Ernest Fauber Jr. (Lillian); two sisters, Vera Donmoyer, and Nancy Smith (Ronnie); four brothers, Paul (Rose), Jim (Jeanette), Ronnie (Shirley), and David (Debra) Salada; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 3:30PM from the Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 400 E Grand Avenue, PO Box F, Tower City, PA 17980.

Sharon A. Jones, 74, of Zion Grove, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Schuylkill East Hospital in Pottsville.

Born in Nanticoke on September 4, 1948, she was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Malacusky) Colosimo.

Sharon was a 1966 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah. She worked as a hair stylist for many years and was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, going to the casino, cooking, attending all of her grandchildren’s events, and listening to Elvis.

Besides her parents, she was preceded by 2 brothers, James and Michael Colosimo, and her sister Sandy in June of this year.

The surviving family includes her husband of 57 years, Harry Jones, 1 son, Matthew Jones with Alicia – Ringtown, 3 daughters, Jennifer Bell – Ringtown, Gina Jones – Gordon, and Michelle Stasulli with Michael – Shenandoah Heights. 1 brother, George “Tut” Colosimo – Zion Grove, 3 sisters, Jody Geist with Scott – Zion Grove, Nellie Makara – Zion Grove, and Jessica Davis with Rob – Danville. 8 grandchildren, Cameron Jones, Kevin Robbins, Connor Stasulli, Brandon Stasulli, Rachel Torrens, Carly Sierdzinski, Casey Sierdzinski, and Dominique Stasulli. 1 great grandchild, Jax Griffin, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 2nd from 8:30 to 10:30am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be conducted at 11am in the funeral home by Fr. Dominic Pham. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Ringtown.

Rosemarie Noon, 89, of Centre St., Ashland, former Mayor, passed away with family by her side, Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Providence Place Senior Living Center, Pottsville.
