Eleanor D. Hadesty
, 81, of Tamaqua, died on Monday, November 27, 2023, in Coaldale. She was the longtime companion of William J. Gaumer who died in February of this year.

Born in Tamaqua on June 1, 1942, Eleanor was a daughter of the late Stanley J. and Kathryn (Follweiler) Hadesty. A 1960 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she continued her education at the Empire Beauty School. Eleanor was employed at Tungstil-Wagner Electric until she retired. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, the American Legion C.H. Berry Post Ladies Auxiliary, and the American Hose Company. 

Eleanor was deeply devoted to family and was beloved by siblings, nieces, and nephews. 

She is survived by brothers, David Hadesty and Richard Hadesty both of Tamaqua; sister, Nancy Lesisko of Tamaqua; and numerous nephews and nieces. 

Eleanor was predeceased by brothers, James, Donald, Raymond, Alfred, and Thomas and a sister, Marie Howells. 

Services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua will follow the services. Call 10-11 AM on Tuesday in the church. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund, Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Charles Edward Wagner, Jr.
, 82, of Tamaqua, died on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Pottsville. He was the husband of Shirley (Billman) Bright Wagner to whom he was married 51 years this past September. 

Born in Coaldale on April 1, 1941, Charles was the son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Mildred (Yemm) Wagner. A 1959 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1963. Charles worked for the former Morgan Knitting Mills as a dryer operator for 20 years and prior to that worked in the construction business. He was an active member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church in Tamaqua and a member of the Tamaqua American Hose Company # 1. A very good family man, Charles was the guy that did everything for everyone. When not helping folks, he could be found watching football, either the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. 

In addition to his wife Shirley, Charles is survived by stepson, Barry Bright and his wife, Deb of Virginia Beach; stepdaughter, Roxanne Harvilla of Tamaqua; step daughter-in-law, Marianne Bright of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Tiffany Warden and her husband Matthew of St. Clair, Barry Bright, Jr. and his wife, Haley of Nashville, TN, and Erin Bright of Virginia Beach; great grandchildren, Kinsley Warden and Lennon Hathcock. 

He was predeceased by a stepson, Michael Bright and sister, Jean Chickirda. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Call 6-8 PM on Friday, December 1 and 10-11 AM on Saturday, December 2 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, c/o The Rev. Kevin Roberts, 430 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Rev. Carl D. Geary, 90, formerly of Wayne Twp., passed away Saturday, November 25th, at Buffalo Valley Skilled Nursing Home, Lewisburg.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Dec. 5 at First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven, with viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., and interment at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.

David G. Herring
, 80years of age a longtime resident of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the home of his son George in Brockton.

Born Sunday, February 21,1943 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania the son of the late Charles, and Mary (Bickleman) Herring. David was also predeceased by; infant son David G. Herring, Jr.; brothers, Edward B., and Charles Herring.

Surviving are; his wife of 60 years, Alma R. (Knepper) Herring; daughter, Debra L. Hosier, wife of Lamar of Tamaqua; son, George D. Herring and his wife Mary Ann of Brockton; grandchildren, George David, and Ashlyn Nicole Herring.

David worked for the Tamaqua Borough for 38 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt, and cut the grass, while enjoying the companionship of his dogs. David was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, and Notre Dame Football fan.
