Margaret Ann (Kozak) Kostek
, formerly of Lansford, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law with whom she resided. 

Margaret, born January 5, 1930, was the wife of Edward J. Kostek who passed away in December of 2014. She was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Hazincak) Kozak of Lansford and graduated from the former Lansford High School, Class of 1947. Margaret was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Lansford until its closure and then became a member of St. Joseph’s Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill. She sang in the church choir for many years at St. Michael’s and was a member of the Panther Valley Golden Age Club. Margaret also attended the Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center where she thrived. She loved being there and was happiest when they had a sing-along or were playing Bingo. 

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Diane Conahan, wife of Glenn Conahan of Hometown, with whom she resided and Jeanne Haldeman, wife of Charles Haldeman, also of Hometown. She has two granddaughters, Christine Haldeman of Pottsville and Amanda Conahan Ryan, wife of Sebastian Ryan, who lives in Ireland and gave her three great grandchildren, Charlotte, Theodore and Oliver. 

Last year Margaret got to meet her Irish grandbabies and was delighted. She is also survived by a beloved nephew, Michael Polinchock and his wife, Mary Lou of Bethlehem. 

Margaret was the last immediate member of the Kozak family being preceded in death by her sister, Anna Polinchock who had been a resident of Lansford and Mary Thomas who had been a resident of Wyomissing. She also had a brother, John Kozak, who died in infancy. 

There will be a private interment; in lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center, 801 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Linda D. Feno
, 75, a resident of Schuylkill Haven, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023.

Linda was born in Reading on December 6, 1947 and raised by her grandparents, Bessie and William Carl Harris. After their passing, her aunt, Anna Carl, continued her upbringing.

Linda was a hard working woman, retiring from Craftex in Auburn. She also worked in the deli at the Market Basket in Pottsville, an operator for the Bell Telephone Company and also in the box office at the former Hollywood Theater in Pottsville.

She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Pottsville, as well as the Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens. She enjoyed shopping, especially with coupons and rebates, as well as going to yard sales. Linda also enjoyed a good card or board game.

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter Feno, Jr., and their children; a daughter Crystal Resnick, and a son, Walter Feno III and his wife Nikki. Her memory will be cherished by the grandchildren she so loved spending time with, Ciara, Kaleigh, Noah, Cheyenne, Genieve and Evelyn. She also leaves behind her beloved minipin, Nellie.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday evening, December 4th, 2023 at 7 PM at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, North Front Street, St. Clair, PA. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church prior to the service.

The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, is honored to serve Linda's family during this time of need.

Alberta “Dolly” Eye, 100, Girardville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East, Pottsville with her loving family at her side.

Born in Raven Run, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Spiece Marquardt. She worked as a machine operator for Gitman’s Shirt Factory, Ashland until her retirement.

Dolly was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Girardville, the Catholic Daughters court St. Cecilia, the Girardville Senior Citizens and the Girardville Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to Irish and country music and loved cheering on the Eagles and Penn State.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eye; her 5 children: Joanne Button, Kenny Eye, Rose Gower, Jerry Eye and Joseph Eye; her grandson George Fago Jr.

Dolly is survived by her 2 daughters, Lillian Fago and Helen Anne Halsey, both of Ashland; her brother, Sonny Marquardt, New York; her 18 grandchildren: Mary, Jimmy, Joanne, Lisa, Kim, Billy, Brian, Jamie, Jackie, Jeff, Shannon, Eric, Joseph, Tom, Jennifer, Mike, Mark and Lisa; her 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2nd from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville with Rev. Giuseppe Esposito officiating. Friends and family are invited to her viewing on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

Robert Schenck
, 59, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday, November 27th, at his residence. Rob was born in Trenton, NJ on June 22, 1964, a son of the late Donald and Judy (Bingley) Schenck. He graduated from Pennsbury High School and then entered the US Marine Corp.

Rob had once delivered furniture for Ethan Allen but was employed most of his life as food preparation. Rob had worked in the Lobster house in NJ as well as the Inn of Orwigsburg and other fine establishments. He enjoyed building rockets and flying drones. He loved music and cooking and in high school he was a talented drummer.

Rob is survived by his two sons Rusty Schenck, fiancé of Lindsey Hoffecker, of Schuylkill Haven; David Schenck, husband of Shellie, of CA and their Mother Korena Pfautz, wife of James, Jr. Rob's grandsons are Everett Robert Schenck and Otis Charlie Schenck.

He is also survived by sisters Debra Wilder, wife of Stephen; Julia Filipponi; brother Charles Potzer, husband of Angela and Nieces & Nephews

Celebration of Life service will be at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, on Wednesday December 6th at 11:00 AM with family and friends sharing memories. Visitation begins at 9:00 AM

Interment will be in St. Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery Orwigsburg, PA.

Jeffrey J. Walker
, age 58, of Dayton Tennessee formerly of Mahanoy City, passed away November 21, 2023, at Park Ridge Hospital in Chattanooga TN.

Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital he was the son of Mary Ann (Swatsky) Walker of Mahanoy City and the late Clayton E. Walker. He was a 1983 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and had been employed in several factories and plants in his short life. 

Surviving in addition to his mother is his companion Donna Moyle, two sons Justin and his wife Amy of Mt. Carmel, and Steven and his wife Samantha of Dayton TN, a sister Deborah Ann Walker of Mahanoy City and a brother Michael and his companion May of Barnesville, and 3 granddaughters Aubrey, Emma and Ensley. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Monday morning December 18, 2023 at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. The Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher will officiate. 

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 10 AM until time of service. 

Contributions in his name to the ACTION Youth Group would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation.

Carole Ann (Obzut) DeLuca, 75 of Brandonville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 29, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah is in care of the arrangements.

Violet M. Schreffler-Smeltz
, 99, of Lykens Township (Gratz), passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Violet was born in Klingerstown, April 6, 1924, a daughter of the late John and Stella Schlegel Wiest.

She was a member of the St. Matthew's (Coleman's) United Church of Christ, Spring Glen. Violet was also a Gold Star Mother.

In her younger years, she enjoyed square dancing, word searches, and was a talented seamstress, making many Care Bears for family and friends. Above all her family was her world, and she was extremely proud of them.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, Melvin Schreffler, 1964 and Russell Smeltz, 2017; her son, Cleon Schreffler who was killed in the Vietnam War in 1967; sisters, Helen Headdings, June Wiest and brothers Bryant and John Wiest.

Violet is survived by her two daughters, Carol Oxenrider (Larry), Millersburg and Donna Rhody (Terry), Orwin; two grandchildren, Amanda Schwalm (Jason), Hegins and Scott Bowman (Kelly), Hummelstown; two step-grandchildren, Marlena Tomei (Josh), Elizabethtown and Craig Rhody (Toni), Lincoln; great grandchildren, Madyson and Myah Schwalm, Lucas and Reid Bowman, Abby and Emily Sonnon, and Sara Moyer; a great great granddaughter, Hannah; a sister, Shirley Scheib, Valley View; two sisters-in-law, Anna Wiest and Shirly Brosius; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 from St. Matthew's (Coleman's) United Church of Christ, Spring Glen. A viewing will be from 10-11 am at the church. Private burial will be in the Himmel Church Cemetery, Rebuck.

Memorial donations in Violet's name can be made to Residential Home Heath and Hospice, 100 Sterling Parkway, #110, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
