St. Joseph Center for Special Learning Celebrates 68th Anniversary Diamond Gala with a Night of Gratitude and Recognition



The St. Joseph's Center for Special Learning recently held its annual Gala event.

On the evening of Saturday, October 21, 2023, the St. Joseph Center for Special Learning marked its 68th Anniversary Diamond Gala at the Mt. Valley Seasons Restaurant at the Mt. Valley Golf Course. The theme for this year's Gala was "Growing Together and Building Forever," and the event was a heartwarming celebration of the resilience of the school's students, adults, and dedicated staff over the past year.

The Gala was not only a night of festivity but also an opportunity to express gratitude to those who have made the Center's mission a reality. The St. Joseph Center for Special Learning is committed to providing education and support to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a Christ-centered environment, helping them reach their full potential and lead dignified lives.

Among the highlights of the evening were the prestigious awards that recognized exceptional individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the St. Joseph Center for Special Learning and their broader community.

Monsignor Boyle Legacy of Caring Award

The first honor of the night, the St. Joseph Center for Special Learning Monsignor Boyle Legacy of Caring Award, was presented to Mrs. Sarah Gulla. This award is reserved for a remarkable staff member at the St. Joseph Center for Special Learning who embodies the spirit of the institution. It was established to honor someone who consistently demonstrates a deep love and understanding of the Center's students and adults. The honoree is committed to spiritual growth and lives a life dedicated to service, selflessly benefiting others without any expectation of recognition, reward, or acknowledgment.

Faith & Service Award

The second award of the night was the St. Joseph Center for Special Learning Faith & Service Award, bestowed upon Mr. Blaise Alexander. This award recognizes an outstanding community member who has made substantial contributions to the St. Joseph Center for Special Learning and their community through their time, talents, actions, and unwavering dedication. The recipient serves as a role model for compassion, faith, and service, striving to make the world a better place and displaying a genuine passion for helping others.
