Edward Smith, 76, of Girardville passed away Wednesday evening November 1st at home surrounded by his loving family.

Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc. 901 Centre Street Ashland, PA 17921 has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Robert P. Maurer
, age 90, of Riverside, CA, formerly of Hegins, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023.

He was born on Saturday, May 6, 1933, in Hegins, a son of the late Elmer E Maurer and the late Mae L (Hauck) Maurer.

Robert was a 1951 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

He worked in Hegins area coal mines, then relocated to California in 1968, and then was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Corona and later at an avocado ranch in Hemet,CA until his retirement.

Robert loved his trips home to Pennsylvania to spend time with his family. He enjoyed going to the Fountain Diner and Traci's Place.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty A (Herb) Maurer, daughter, Tina M Krammes, grandson, Kole A Harris, brother, Clyde Maurer, and a sister, Marilyn Kehler..

He is survived by his wife Mary Maurer, of Riverside, CA.

He is also survived by a daughter, Bonnie D (Harvey Barry) Maurer of Pine Grove; son, Rahn C (Jackie) Maurer of Lykens; two grandsons, Korey Harris and Chad Deitrich; two granddaughters, Nikole Deitrich and Kristin Calvin; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Fountain Community Cemetery, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne Allen Marks
, 60, of Schuylkill Haven passed away suddenly on Wednesday.

Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Alfred Marks Sr., and Lois Morgan Hall.

Wayne attended Schuylkill Haven School District until he took leave to care for his grandmother after an illness.

Wayne was always willing to help anyone in need, he will be remembered for his generosity. Each holiday he would prepare numerous gift baskets for families in need. He will be remembered for his kind heart and laughter.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Matthew Hall.

Wayne is survived by his brother Alfred Marks, Jr. husband to Donna and his sister Rhonda Feno wife of Daniel along with his cousin Pamela Russell wife of Scott. He is also survived by his nieces, Krystle and Taylor Marks, and Bryanna Knoll.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 5:00 P.M. at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 P.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the funeral home to defer funeral expenses. 75 Memorial Drive, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.

Stanley "Sid" Daniels, 80, of Schuylkill Haven passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday.

Born, April 27, 1943, in Ashland, he was the son of the late Peter and Nancy Leschik Daniels.

Stanley was a graduate of Frackville Area High School in 1962. He then went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1962-1966 where he was stationed on the U.S.S. Hancock.

He was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Church in Schuylkill Haven.

Stan worked for PP&L for 40 years in many areas, retiring in 2006. He last worked in Vegetation Management for PP&L.

Stan was an avid Penn State fan and was a Lionel Train Collector. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jack Daniels and sister, Florence Jarzynko. He is also preceded in death by his children, Susan Mogan and Shawn Daniels.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Barbara Minarick. He is also survived by his son Stanley K. Daniels and grandchildren, Shannon Morgan, Dana Frey, Matthew Daniels, and Angeliqua Daniels.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment with military honors will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
