Sweet Arrow Lake Gears Up for 18th Annual Groundhog Day Celebration

Sweet Arrow Lake County Park is getting ready as Grover the Groundhog prepares to emerge from his cozy burrow to make his annual weather prediction on Friday, February 2, 2024.

The event is set to take place at the Sweet Arrow Lake County Park Clubhouse at 9:00 am, marking the 18th Annual Groundhog Day Celebration.

Groundhog enthusiasts are invited to join Grover and his friends at the Clubhouse for a day filled with excitement and fun. The festivities will feature a special performance by Leo DiSanto, a musician from the heart of PA Dutch Groundhog country in Lancaster. Leo, known for his contemporary and original songs, including the catchy "Groundhog Day Blues," has previously wowed audiences at Sweet Arrow with The Vinegar Creek Constituency. The performance is made possible by a grant from the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation.

Adding to the fun is the "Groundhog" Auction, offering a variety of great items for attendees to bid on. The event is proudly sponsored by the Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association and is free and open to the public.

For those looking to kick off the day with a hearty meal, breakfast will be available starting at 7:30 am. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12, payable at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. It's a wonderful opportunity to indulge in some delicious fare before the day's festivities unfold.

Organizers have also taken into consideration the unpredictable nature of weather events and caution that the celebration may be canceled in the case of extreme conditions. Attendees are advised to stay informed by calling 570-345-8952 or visiting www.sweetarrowlakepark.com or the Sweet Arrow Lake Facebook page for event updates and possible cancellations.
