Megan E. Kimmel, 65, of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, March 27th, at Seton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville on February 2, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Elaine (Zimmerman) and John "Tubby" Evans, Sr.

Megan was the wife of William C. Kimmel, Jr.

Following graduation from Pottsville Area High School, Megan attended Lebanon Valley College and Lehigh Carbon Community College.

Megan was employed as a dietary manager for Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pottsville.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville and served as the current mayor of Auburn. Megan was also very involved with the Boy Scout Troop 624.

In addition to her husband, Megan is survived by her son, William C. III, husband of Cydni L. Kimmel; daughter, Elaine A. Kimmel; brother, John "Apple" Evans, Jr.; and grandson, John H. Kimmel.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, April 2nd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville with Pastor Chris Rothharpt officiating. A viewing period will be held from 11:30 AM until the time of services.

Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pottsville.

The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions to Rev. Phillip Bendell Scholarship Fund, 300 W. Arch St., Pottsville PA 17901 or Boy Scout Troop #624, 91 E. Independence St. Orwigsburg PA 17961.

Bruce R. Heckman
, 76, of Windsor, formerly of Pottsville, passed away on Thursday, March 28th, at WellSpan York Hospital.

Born on July 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ida “Dot” (Murray) Heckman.

Before graduating from Pottsville Area High School in 1965, Bruce enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving from 1965-1968 where he served as a Radar Man on the USS Mullinnix DD-944 and completed 2 tours in Vietnam. Upon leaving The Navy, Bruce worked as a Quality Control Inspector for over 42 years for GenCorp Inc./Reneer Films, Auburn. He was a life member of the former Greenwood Hill Fire Company and a member of the Yorkville Hose Company. Bruce was a handyman and was known for being able to fix anything. Bruce also coached minor league baseball when his son was growing up. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where he served as an Usher.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Ronald Heckman.

Surviving is his loving wife, Sharon (Edmonds) Heckman; loving son, Rick Heckman and wife Tammy; loving daughter, Dr. Kristin Heckman; grandchildren, Kloee, Niloahs, and Hannah, sisters, Nancy Depsky and Linda McNitsky; brother, David Heckman, several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 4th, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch Street, Pottsville, with Pastor Chris Rothharpt officiating. Calling hours from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.

Interment Services and military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, on May 6th, at 10:00 A.M. Please meet at the cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or The Wounded Warriors Project.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Nellie R. (Zavaglia) Clark
, 92, of Shenandoah, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Shenandoah on September 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Dominick and Rose (Saturno) Zavaglia.

Nellie was a 1949 graduate of the former J.W. Copper High School, Shenandoah.

She worked at the former Alma Dress Factory, Shenandoah until her retirement in 1992. She was a union member of ILGWU.

Nellie was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the Glovers Hill Ladies Auxiliary both of Shenandoah.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Wilbur H. Clark Jr. on October 28, 2012; one sister, Mary Laureti; one brother, Nicholas Zavaglia; and her daughter-in-law, Betsy Clark.

Surviving family members include her son, Gary Clark of Hazle Township; grandson, Jason Clark and his wife Nicole of Orwigsburg; granddaughter, Jessica Clark of Durham, NC; great-grandson, Tyler Clark; brother, Joseph Zavaglia and his wife Karen of New Jersey; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Private religious services with interment following in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights will be held at the convenience of the family.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street is in care of the arrangements.

, 90, former resident of Second Street, Girardville, passed away, Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill, East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.
