Raymond “Ray” M. Jones Jr.
, 57, of Ashland passed away Sunday morning May 12, 2024, at home.

Born in Somerville, NJ on January 21, 1967 he was the son of the late Jeanette A. (Durose) and Raymond M. Jones Sr.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Ray graduated from Cardinal Brennan High School in 1985. He also attended HACC where he studied Fire Science.

He was the husband of Gail A. (McFadden) Jones.

Ray was currently employed as the manager for the Borough of Ashland.

Ray had a long career in fire service. He was a Federal Firefighter at Fort Indiantown Gap for over 33 years. Ray served as Captain in 1998 before the Gap switched to state firefighters in 1999. Upon switching to the state, Ray became an Assistant Chief of Fort Indiantown Gap until his retirement in April ‘23.

Locally, Ray had a long history in fire service in Ashland. In 1985 he joined American Hose Co. #1 then transferred to Washington Fire Co. “Hookies” in 1988. He became the boroughs 1st Assistant Fire Chief in 2001 until stepping down in 2021.

Ray was involved in politics. He recently ran for Schuylkill County Commissioner and was involved with the Schuylkill County Republican Committee. He served on the board of directors for the Pioneer Tunnel, board member of Schuylkill County Land Bank and board member of Schuylkill Co. Chamber of Commerce.

Ray is survived by; spouse Gail Jones, Ashland; daughter Megan Jones (Cole Hindenach), Hamburg; granddaughter Briella “Rosie” Kunkel; mother-in-law Dolores McFadden (William Sr.), Locustdale; 3 sister-in-law’s Lori Steinhilber (Charlie), Ashland; Beth McFadden (Paul Hardknock Jr.), Fountain Springs, Kelly Wright (Daniel), Locustdale; brother-in-law William McFadden Jr., Locustdale; 2 aunts Victoria Novak (John), Frackville and Diane Lenahan, Girardville; nephew CJ Steinhilber; several cousins.

A viewing for family and friends will be Thursday May 16, 2024, from 9-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Services will be Thursday May 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Jeremy Smallwood officiating. Burial will follow services at Brock Cemetery in Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ray’s memory to Washington Fire Company, 1307 Centre St, Ashland PA 17921 or to Tunnel to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island NY 10306.

George Kline
, 78, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Friday, May 10th, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

George was born in Wiggans, PA on April 29, 1946, a son of the late Catherine “Gladys” (Hillibush) and Nicholas Kline.

He was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City.

Graduated from Mahanoy Area High School class of 1965, and attended McCann's School of Business as well as Lackawanna College, and Penn State Schuylkill.

He had worked at Pomeroy's Stores. He also worked for 43 years until retiring as a manager at Hane’s Brands Inc. formerly J.E. Morgans Knitting Mills Hometown. He was also a CAN.

His grandkids were his life.

He was husband of the late Ruth (Jones) Kline.

George survived by a daughter, Emily (Seiger), wife of Daryl Lutz, of Pittston; a brother, William, husband of Cynthia Kline, of Minersville; by and a sister in law Carol Kline of Wiggans. Grandsons Derek and Aaron Seiger, 10 Great Grandchildren also niece’s nephews and cousins.

George is preceded in death by brothers Nicholas Jr., Harry, and Paul Mitchell and sister’s infants Louise and Kathleen, and Betty Kline, Anna Skymba, Mary Roberts, and Carrol Morrison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Thursday, May 16th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.

Friends and family may call Thursday 9 to 11 AM at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Interment private at convenience of the Family.

Family prefers donations to St. Judes Childrens Hospital Philadelphia.

Denise J. Sweigart
, 63, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, May 11th, at her residence, with her loving husband and children by her side.

Denise was born in Reading, PA on August 15, 1960, a daughter of Jane (Lobst) and the late John Bortzel and step Mom Emma Bortzel.

She was the wife of Randall Sweigart. They were married on April 2, 1982.

She was a Graduate of Cocalico High School and

Denise enjoyed being a homemaker.

In addition to Randall, Denise is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Sweigart, Randi Sweigart, wife of Christopher Carbaillo and Tamara Sweigart, wife of Michael Wolf.

Denise is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel, Jayvien, Jaicie, Malachi, Laila, Shaya, Scott, Isalena, and Malaysia, a sister, Rene Shewalter, a brother, Michael Bortzel, and her Pet dog Moonshine.

Services are private and entrusted to the Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg.

Donna M. (Clemson) Robertshaw
, 81 years of age of Schuylkill Ave. Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024, at home while in the care of her husband of 61 years, Ronald E. Robertshaw.

Born Tuesday, July 14, 1942 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late William George, and Frances M. (Morgans) Clemson.

Surviving in addition to her husband are; son, Ronald Robertshaw and his finance Tonya Palmer of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Carly, and Megan Robertshaw.

A 1960 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Donna and Ron where each devoted member of the Tamaqua Ambulance Association. Donna was a certified E.M.T., served as a former director, and was the association’s secretary for many years. A member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Donna enjoyed sewing, latch hook, and needle point. She cherished the companionship of her cats Robbie, and Andie.

Albert A. Kimsel, 66, of Second Street, St. Clair, former Mowry resident, passed away, Friday, May 10, 2024, at his residence.

Born in Abington, PA., June 17, 1957, he was the son of the late Albert and Mona Rabuck Kimsel. He was a graduate of Line Mountain High School, Class of 1975. He was employed as a department manager for Boscov’s Department Store and later for the Wal Mart Supercenter, both of St. Clair, until his retirement. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team.

Preceding him in death, was a brother Richard Kimsel, passing March 22, 2009.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Albert’s Life, Saturday June 1, 2024, at 1 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Dana Heckman Beil, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Ashland. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle. 

Visitation with family and friends will begin Saturday, at 11 AM in the funeral home.
