Shawn Butler Secures Republican Nomination for Schuylkill County Sheriff

Shawn Butler, the current Chief Deputy under Sheriff Joseph Groody, has won the Republican nomination in the Schuylkill County Sheriff’s race.

Butler defeated fellow Republican candidate Frank DiMarco in Tuesday’s primary election.

Frank J. DiMarco - 5,458 votes

With no Democratic or third-party candidates filing to run in the November general election, Butler is set to run unopposed.

Butler has served in law enforcement for several years and has worked closely alongside Sheriff Groody during his tenure.

"To everyone who put out a sign, had a conversation, or showed up at the polls, thank you! This campaign was never about politics. It was about people, it was about experience, and it was about electing the right man for the job."  Butler said in a comment.

Sheriff Groody, a Democrat, announced earlier this year that he would not seek re-election after serving multiple terms.
