Pennsylvania Game Commission Announces Changes to 2025-2026 Antlerless Deer License Sales

The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) has announced updates to the 2025-2026 antlerless deer license sales process, including changes impacting hunters in Schuylkill County.
Hunters will have multiple ways to purchase their hunting and antlerless deer licenses this year. Licenses can be obtained through the Pennsylvania Game Commission's official website, at any authorized in-store license issuing agent, or locally at the Schuylkill County Treasurer’s Office. The Treasurer’s Office will open at 8:00 a.m. on the first day of each license round.

One important change for hunters purchasing licenses through the Treasurer’s Office is the discontinuation of Social Security Numbers as acceptable identification. Instead, hunters will need to provide their Customer Identification (CID) number and driver’s license number when making a purchase.

The antlerless deer license application schedule is as follows:
  • Monday, June 23, 2025: First round for Pennsylvania residents, allowing the purchase of one antlerless license in the Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) of choice.
  • Monday, July 7, 2025: First round for non-residents, as well as any residents who did not participate in the first round. One antlerless license per person is permitted.
  • Monday, July 28, 2025: Second round open to both residents and non-residents. A hunter may purchase up to two antlerless licenses, subject to WMU availability.
  • Monday, August 11, 2025: Third round for residents and non-residents. Up to three antlerless licenses may be purchased if available. Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) tags will also be available during this period.
  • Monday, August 25, 2025: Fourth round for residents and non-residents. Hunters may buy up to six antlerless licenses, again depending on WMU availability.
Additionally, for WMUs 5C and 5D, hunters may purchase up to 15 antlerless licenses due to higher deer populations in those areas.

The PGC will also issue reminder mailings to registered disabled veterans and landowners. Pre-qualified landowners in Schuylkill County owning 50 or more contiguous acres may purchase their antlerless licenses starting Tuesday, June 16, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. at the Schuylkill County Treasurer’s Office. The cost of these licenses is $6.97 for Pennsylvania residents and $26.97 for non-residents.

Disabled veterans, as well as active members of the U.S. Armed Forces (or those within 60 days of honorable discharge from federal active duty), may purchase their 2025-2026 antlerless licenses at any PGC office or at the Schuylkill County Treasurer’s Office. The cost for these licenses will also be $6.97. Reservists and members of the National Guard are not eligible for this offer.

For more information, hunters are encouraged to visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission website or contact the Schuylkill County Treasurer’s Office directly.
