Michael Pleva, affectionately known as Big Mike, passed away at the age of 83 on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at Green Valley Skilled Nursing & Rehab. Born on October 8, 1941, in Shenandoah, PA, he was the son of the late Helen (Sluzevich) and Edward Pleva.Michael was a proud graduate of Mahanoy City High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a dedicated worker, retiring as a Toll Collector for the PA Turnpike, and also held positions at Bethlehem Steel and as a Welder for Dorr Oliver.
He was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Mahanoy City and actively participated in several organizations, including the MOOSE Lodge, TPA, Good American Fire Company, and the Park Crest Fish and Game Club.
Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy (Ulshafer) Pleva, and his brother, Edward. He is survived by his daughter, Denise, and her husband, Paul Kanigoski, of Auburn; his sister, MaryAnn Krzemein, of Littleton, CO; his grandchildren, Corey, husband of Elizabeth, and Jordann Seasock; and his great-granddaughters, Elena and Lyla Seasock. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held at the Good American Fire Company #3 in Mahanoy City at 11 AM on Friday, June 27th, with calling hours from 9 to 11 AM. Interment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery in Mahanoy City, PA. In honor of Mike's love for Penn State, the family encourages attendees to wear Penn State or Blue and White attire.

Loreen L. Miller, 83 of Orwigsburg passed away Monday June 15, 2025 at Providence Place, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville Sept 16, 1941 she was the daughter of David and Ida (Freeze) Lowthert. Loreen graduated from Pottsville High School class of 1959. Following high school Loreen started working for the former Pennsylvania National Bank and retired as an administrative assistant from the M&T bank, Yorkville. She married James R. Miller on April 28, 1962 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, recently celebrating 63 years of marriage.
For many years Loreen and her husband spent their winters in Florida, often enjoying spring training baseball games. The warmer months were spent in Orwigsburg, caring for her songbirds. Whether in Florida or Pennsylvania, Loreen loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved them very much.
Loreen was once a member of the local Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She loved staying busy doing jigsaw puzzles, sewing, and making crafts to donate to fundraisers. Loreen was an avid reader, and in her younger years, taught Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran while raising her children.
In addition to her parents, Loreen was preceded in death by brothers David and Richard Lowthert.
She is survived by:

Son James J. Miller and wife Jill, Wilmington NC
5 grandchildren, Christian and Alana Miller, Samantha, Elizabeth and Parker Dillard, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to a funeral service on Monday, June 23 at 11am at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St Port Carbon. A visitation will be from 10am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park.

Thomas J. Fudge, Jr, husband, brother, teacher and friend of many passed away suddenly at his home in Perkasie, Pennsylvania on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Tom was 73 years of age. Tom died peacefully in his sleep after a day of doing what he loved most, playing golf with his friends.
Born Thursday, October 29, 1951 in Brooklyn New York he was the son of the late Thomas J. Fudge Sr and Matilda E. (Valentine) Fudge.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 41 years, Dolores A. (Bubrowski) Fudge; brother, Timothy E. Fudge and his wife Dian; brotherly cousin Kevin Brovetto of Boise, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Schlauch and her husband Charlie, Genevieve Bubrowski, Deborah Gates and her husband Joe; brothers-in-law, Robert, Michael, Ronald and Anthony Bubrowski. Many great nieces and nephews also survive Tom.
A 1969 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Tom matriculated to Bloomsburg University earning his teaching certification in Elementary Education. Tom retired from New Hope Solebury School District after 36 years as a respected and acclaimed elementary school teacher. His far-reaching effect is witnessed by any student having been educated by Tom. Tom coached every intramural sport and high school basketball at New Hope/Solebury Elementary and High School. Tom also coached at St Jerome’s during his years in Tamaqua.
Catholic by faith, Tom was an accomplished golfer, an encyclopedic card player, a talented pool player, a great fisherman and most importantly a friend to all he met. An avid Notre Dame football fan and New York Yankee fan, Tom supported the Knicks, Rangers, Mets and Giants, all that is New York. Tom's amazing knowledge of sports was clearly evident in his spellbinding conversations.
Tom looked forward to family camping trips, weeks long excursions to Northern Quebec, leisurely days spent fishing and golfing with his many, many friends and family. Tom's amazing personality cultivated many lifelong friendships which he cherished. They included his high school friends from Tamaqua, Sigma Pi Fraternity brothers at BSU, Teachers in New Hope School district and "friends of Golf" (as he referred to them) at every public and private golf course in eastern Pa. Tom will be greatly missed by many. I think he is best described as a “Philanthropist of Friends”.

Nancy K. Lesisko, 84, of New Ringgold, passed away on June 17, 2025, at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Leo Lesisko with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2024.

Born in Tamaqua, Nancy was a daughter of the late Stanley J. and Kathryn (Follweiler) Hadesty. A 1958 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she was the owner of Nan-Lee’s Fine Apparel in Tamaqua for 40 years where she frequently offered fashion shows of the clothing offered in her boutique. Nancy was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the board of trustees of the former Coaldale State Hospital, and a lifelong member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Tamaqua. After retirement, she enjoyed feeding the birds and small animals in her yard, growing a variety of plants, watching movies, and seeing her granddaughters grow up.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas and his wife Christine of New Ringgold, Lee and his wife Jennifer of Kresgeville, and Jon and his wife Michelle of Hebron, Connecticut; two granddaughters, Noelle Stidham and her husband Jay, and Sarah Hollenbach and her husband Nick; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Eli, Emma, and Marlee; one brother, Richard Hadesty of Tamaqua; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; six brothers, David, James, Donald, Raymond, Alfred, and Thomas Hadesty; and two sisters, Marie Howells and Eleanor Hadesty.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and administration of the 5th floor at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital for the excellent care and compassion that they provided to Nancy.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 21, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Darryl Kensinger officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua will follow the services. Call from 10-11 AM on Saturday at the church.
