Richard C. Wetzel
, 76, of Ashland passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill, Pottsville after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer.

Born in Ashland, he was the son of the late Charles and Evelyn (Roseman) Wetzel. Rich was last employed for Gould’s Pump, Ashland until his retirement.

Rich was an avid fan of North Schuylkill athletics and volunteered his time with the football and basketball programs. His true passion was watching his children and grandchildren play sports, at various levels. He also really enjoyed watching his son coach the Lady Spartans. If he wasn’t watching sports, you could find him working with his sports cards or at one of the local auctions.

Rich is survived by his wife of 57 years, Holly (Humes) Wetzel of Ashland; his son, Richard Wetzel and his wife Sharyn, Frackville; his three daughters: Susan Burns and her husband Patrick, Girardville; Elizabeth Grow and her husband Michael, Ringtown; Amy Doolan and her husband Keith of Salem, VA; his grandchildren: Cameron Gantz, Tyler Gantz, Andrew Gantz, Mya Wetzel, Maddy Wetzel, Noah Grow, Parker Doolan and Maudie Doolan.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 11 a.m. from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, 403 W. Main Street, Girardville. Friends and relatives are invited to his viewing at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lady Spartan Booster Club, C/O Tonia Selgrade 30 Country Club Rd. Ashland, PA 17921.

Shirley Ann Marconi
, 87, of Ringtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19th in her home of 57 years with her devoted husband, Francis (“Jake”), by her side.

Born on February 28th, 1938, in Shenandoah, PA, she was the daughter of the late Tessie and Willard Dormer.

She was a 1955 J W Cooper graduate and a 1958 graduate of Northeastern Hospital of Pennsylvania. Shirley was a very proud and dedicated registered nurse. Places she worked included Locust Mountain Hospital in Shenandoah, St. Joseph’s Hospital Satellite in Shenandoah, and Geisinger Family Practice in Frackville.

Shirley’s greatest joy in life was her family, and she treasured moments spent with her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She cherished having the opportunity to raise her children in the quiet and beautiful Ringtown Valley. Shirley and Jake were also life-long campers and enjoyed sharing the joys of spending quality time together while camping with their children and grandchildren.

Surviving Shirley, in addition to her beloved husband of 64 years, are her three children: Janice (husband, Mike) Gifford of Greenville, SC; Dr. Debbie Frey (husband, Steve) of Manheim, PA; and David Marconi (wife, Suzy) of Suwannee, GA. Shirley and Francis were blessed with 7 grandchildren (Jessica, Rachel, Scott, Justin, Chelsea, Emily, and Megan) and two great-grandchildren (Kolton and Kinsley). She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Dormer of O’Fallon, Illinois, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Callers may pay their respects on Friday, June 27th, beginning at 9am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, West Main Street, Ringtown. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM followed by burial in the Old White Church Cemetery in RIngtown. Shirley was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ringtown. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation to St. John’s Lutheran Church in her memory.

Margaret Ann Swiech

Margie was born on April 12, 1947, at the former Locust Mountain hospital in Shenandoah, the daughter of the late Edna and Harry Toll.

She had two brothers and 2 sisters, and was raised Protestant.

Margie graduated in 1964 from the former JW Cooper High School in Shenandoahh, She worked at the Hazleton General Hospital in housekeeping department and had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, read and loved the holidays.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandsons, Hunter, Hayden and Harry Trammell, and by her husband John who died in 2017.

She is survived by her daughters, Alisa Ann Ziolko and her companion Donnie Spevak; Amy Dawn Yencho and her husband Kevin; Marnie Joy Vargas and Angel Vargas.

Two granddaughters, Isis Meyers and her husband Tom and Aja Eve Vargas. A very special girl who she always loved like granddaughter, Lyndsay Trammell. Two great grandsons, Preston and Bryce Meyers who she adored.

She wanted no fuss and her burial private - she said its too hard on the family. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who she loved aandwas so proud to hear them say Aunt Marge. She felt close to all of them, especially Donna Ziolko Grohman, JaniLynn and Lily Swiech.

She will be laid to rest at Mount Laurel Cemetery.
