Robert J. Ughes, 89, of Pottsville, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

He was born on December 9, 1935, the son of the late Anthony Ughes and Eva (Pucas) Ughes. He was of the Catholic Faith. Robert worked at the former Good Samaritan Medical Center, Pottsville.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret F. Ughes, who passed away in April of this year; his brother, Walter Ughes; and his two sisters, Virginia Achenbach and Theresa Palamar.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and interment will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Casimir’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Port Carbon, at 11 AM, with Deacon John Setlock officiating. James H. Evans Funeral Home, Inc., St. Clair, is entrusted with arrangements.

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Frederick
, 78 of Pottsville, died Saturday at home.

She was born January 6, 1947, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Albert L. and Alice L. Carl Dusel.

She was a 1964 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Betty had worked for 47 years for both hospitals in Pottsville.

Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville

She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Frederick; an infant sister, Ann Marie Dusel; and a brother, Albert J. Dusel.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years Jerome E. "Jerry" Frederick; a son Bryan Frederick and his wife Lisa; 4 grandchildren, Thomas Bowers and his wife Brandy; Alysia Frederick; Rebecca Frederick, Jerome Frederick and his wife Nicole; 3 great-grandchildren, Cayden Frederick, Jude Cicero, Skyla Yazujian; a brother, Robert L. "Ace" Dusel, and his wife Marie; a sister, Kathy Honnage and her husband Bob, all of Pottsville; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Frederick; nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a services of remembrance Thursday at 11AM from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, the family request NO formal attire please dress causal. A visitation will be held from 9am until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Betty be made Salvation Army 400 Sanderson, St. Pottsville, PA 17901 or Meals on Wheels Program C/O Diakon Community Services for Seniors. 2020 W.
