Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce Selected Again as Regional Partner for 2026 National Civics Bee

The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce has once again been chosen as a Regional Partner for the 2026 National Civics Bee®, a nationwide initiative organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to promote civic engagement and education among middle school students.

The Chamber’s continued participation in the program builds on the momentum of its successful inaugural competition in 2025. The upcoming 2026 event will again provide an opportunity for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students across the region to demonstrate their understanding of civics, propose ideas to better their communities, and compete for local, state, and national recognition.

“We’re proud to support the National Civics Bee® because we believe a strong country, economy, and workforce are built on a foundation of informed and engaged citizens,” the Chamber said in a statement. “By fostering civic education here in Schuylkill County, we’re investing in our future leaders and strengthening our communities.”

About the National Civics Bee®

The National Civics Bee® is a nonpartisan competition that challenges students to explore their role in American democracy. The contest begins with a written essay round, followed by live quiz-style competitions for selected finalists. These competitions take place at the regional, state, and national levels, culminating in a national championship held in Washington, D.C.
Civic Engagement Starts Young

The Schuylkill Chamber emphasized the importance of youth civic education in ensuring long-term prosperity for the region and the country. By encouraging students to think critically about how to improve their communities and understand the foundations of government, the Chamber hopes to inspire a new generation of engaged citizens and future leaders.

A Look Back at 2025

In April 2025, the Chamber hosted its first-ever local competition, drawing 18 middle school participants who competed in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. After two rounds of challenging civics questions and impactful essays, three students were selected to represent Schuylkill County at the state level.

With renewed enthusiasm, the Chamber plans to expand the 2026 competition to reach even more students and school districts throughout the region.

What’s Ahead for 2026

Essay applications for the 2026 National Civics Bee® open on September 8, 2025. Finalists will be chosen in early 2026, with the Schuylkill Regional Competition taking place in spring 2026. The top three students from the regional event will advance to the State Finals in summer 2026, and one state winner will earn the opportunity to compete in the National Championship in Washington, D.C. in the fall.
